So it's Black History Month and that means I think it's a good time to get familiar with Mike Pondsmith, if you're not already.

When you see R. Talsorian Games, that's him. When you see Cyberpunk 2077, that's his world.

Mekton, Castle Falkenstein, also him.

A'ight kids, it's time for a thread giving you the lowdown on Draft2Digital.

1: They were founded by right-wing Xtians.

2: They donate masses of cash to their church and missions.

3: They view ROMANCE and EROTICA as the same thing, *and* as "dangerous".

⬇️
Unfortunately they are blocking all erotica from distribution. Very sad to see a champion for indie bookstores take such a restrictive stance on fiction.

DOCTOR: I told him he needed to get out to a show, that was how he would cure his depression.

CHOTINER: So you learned this technique in school?

DR: No, not— listen it was good advice. Pagliacci was in town.

C: Right. Is it standard to give advice before learning a patient’s name?

DR: Now look

Started to get back into playing around with some 3D virtual dungeon modelling tools

For something easy to practice I've been mocking up old D&D modules and ran into an amusing hiccup. The 10'x10' room. Corridoors are 10' wide by default, so in practice it's more of a nook or a closet than a room 😅

This is Jerry Lawson. He invented the video game cartridge for the Fairchild Channel F system. Because of his invention, many consoles had cartridges and CD formats and would become the norm.

The Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and many consoles wouldn't exist without him.

Happy Black History Month.

Anthropic being honest about the damage they’re doing is probably the result of them reading my popular science book which they stole.
“We found that using AI assistance led to a statistically significant decrease in mastery.”

Props to Anthropic for studying the effects of their creation and reporting results that are not probably what they wished for

The MGM Lion in the Masters of the Universe trailer should have been replaced with Battle Cat, and the fact that they didn't do that is honestly a red flag when you're trying to sell me a He-Man movie.

I know we're all seeing 87 unhinged things per day, but "guys if our multi billion dollar product doesn't start being useful for something, literally anything, the people might not appreciate us wrecking the planet over it anymore" is a truly bananapants thing to say out loud
Delicious to me

This is my favorite headcanon and it's a great example of how readers can offer a different reading of a text that the author never considered and did not intend, but is nonetheless validated by the text itself.

Casual reminder that Itch stole my money & I can no longer sell there, meaning I can't promote with my friends or participate in bundles & other opportunities.

I'd really appreciate if y'all could help me get more discovery for my books on here instead! 100% human made, 100% queer creative team!
I released 2 trans books this year.

The 1st is a romcom where a guy falls in love with sexy Totoro at a drag show

The 2nd is a soulmate romantasy where a guy cursed with immortality has to make amends for his past by healing other people's soulmate bonds

Alva Valai and the Ranger character bonding over their disgust at shitty rich men thinking they can buy anyone they want is such a mood 😁

Nice to see Path of Exile 2 continuing on the trend of sharp and insightful character banter that they nailed in the first one.

Concept art is rarely a process of, "have cool idea, now just visualize it for me!"
Its a process of education, discovery and development to make "believable", original, workable objects that make sense.

AI vs Concept Art.
I think there are a couple of things folks on the outside, don't understand about the concept art process and why AI is a hindrance, not a help.
Example 1 : Scorpion oil Lamp, information and understanding.

"We only use AI in a way that makes it more likely to slip into our release version than the non AI way of doing things"

Very weird defence tbh (and not the first ones to make it). And it's not like a publisher is forcing AI on them in some way and concepting was the compromise, this is all Larian.
I don't think Larian's CEO understands how art is made:

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.
