I love working #ConceptArt. Re-designing things or exploring completely new ideas from scratch. The iteration process of it. Trying to explore an idea while tying to make it workable withing the art direction & style constraints.
It scratches the creativity & problem solving itch at the same time.
My re design of an ettercap Exploring various ideas for a 'fungus moth' Ideas for a fantasy animal pen. A series of images showing the iteration process to develop ideas.

Ive definitely been lucky. I've been in a fair few long running leagues. That said 60% of the time I have been the one running them :P

For me its also a window into how I used to do the whole hobby thing :P

He is a big metal mini. :P

Fortunately as long as my brand of neurodivergent is not flaring up, I'm usually ok with the noise/bustle.
I mainly love ongoing campaigns, so you will oft find me signed up to a Bloodbowl league or similar at my local.

It's also why its so endlessly banal when some clown pretends im not a real fan, and am not allowed to ask for things I'd like to have.
Sooooo Dullllll.

I keep looking at this, and each time I do more sense memories from flooding back.
The smell of my hobby space back then. The noise of cramming 16 people under a house for a Necromunda league.
Not gaming for a month because FF7 came out and it became my life.
I was young, dirt poor & a weird goth.

This morning I was surprised by an unexpected package.
An old friend out housemate had discovered a smattering of my ancient mid 90s minis in their storage and sent them to me!
I had forgotten these orks till I saw them again, and the nostalgia is hitting me like hammer blows.

2 metal or minis I painted in the mid 90s, Goblin green bases and all.

Someone posturing via metrics they don't have, will never not be funny to me.
"All fans X" Good job dipshit, anymore feels you want to share with the class? :P

I remember being excited at the time, because I was poor, and it could be played at a skirmish level.

Most of these I'll keep with the current paint jobs for the memories. There are a couple I might be tempted to strip and repaint with modern techniques. (what even were washes back then :P)

And something not GW but definitely from the same time frame. Some very heavy metal.
Warzone: The mutant chronicles
Left to right: Nepharite of Ilian and 3 Cybertronic minis Dr Diana, Vince Diamond, Cypertronic Machinator.
So many memories
4 miniatures: Nepharite of Ilian, Avatar of a drak god with a dress of chains. Dr Diana sci fi doc with med kit, Vince Diamond oversized roided human, Cypertronic Machinator skull faced robot warrior.

90s metal termagants!
(Everyone is fighting on green fields!)
2, 90s metal termagants in Red and Bone colours (as was the style at the time) on goblin green bases.

Victor (probably my very first and worst ktbash) is in my hands again, rather then just an old photo memory. And a scout/merc!
Metal Necromunda scout and a kitbash of a starter set orlock to be the leagues journalist.

My Aeldri minis continue to be on pause as I bang out some stuff I need for my upcoming DnD campaign.
Took my cast boats and master, added a bunch of spare model kit bits to give them some personality and Prime/Basecoated them.
Time to get speed painting!
DIY wooden boats and 1 GW LotR official rowboat.

Intimidatingly amazing stuff.

Back when I did improv, a co-performer who didn't do singing games was forced into one. He blocked like a champ, put his arms in an arch above his head & said "I'd love to, but I'm a paper clip"
For years after if one of us was in an bad social situation...
"I'd love to, but I'm a paper clip" & run.

I know others have said it (Brush Soap) but I found I needed to be more diligent with dry brushes then my good ones.
My good ones I can get away with a full clean after a project, or maybe an additional once during.
Dry brushes, after every use.

And i've seen a lot of people who seem to think folks should be allowed to trade off the IP of others, venerate this kind of IP theft as a laudable David vs Goliath struggle.
Its our individual views on IP protections, that is the point of difference flavoring everyone's perceptions.

Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

Anyway Session 0 is next weekend. Players will lock in their character choices, we'll discuss background/personality ideas so I can see if I can weave some personal quests into the greater story. Then I'll prep for session 1.
Exciting.

Kind why I've always been tolerant of lore changes in things like 40k. Sometimes things need to change for RL reasons. Rather then try and justify that change in setting I prefer the RL action of saying. "Hey this needed changing due to X, we cool" and running with it.
pantmonger.bsky.social
But anyway. With some solid weather tables, light food/water management and disease risk. I'm hoping to straddle the line of exploration risk/fun without falling into tedium.
When in doubt talk to players and change things if they need it, when it comes up, has always been my DM philosophy.

Although I might massage that.
6 encounters might be the average between 2 locations, but with 3 16+ rolls per day, there is some room for some hefty swing and outliers there. I might want to tie down a little.
