Portland, Oregon, USA. Elderly white hippie. Trail runs, book reading & browsing, yoga, live & recorded music, biking errands. Not a fan of dictatorships - no DJT pics/vids here!
Pinned
- Cause he really thinks that any trade deficit is "ripping us off"
- Cause it will force lots of CEOs to "bend the knee" and beg for mercy
- Cause he thinks he can single-handedly restructure the US economy (bring low-paid jobs back!)
- Cause he's pretty stupid, actually
All can be true!

Vance is the embodiment of the cowardice and complicity in the GOP.

In a blink of an eye, Vance went from decrying Trump as a dangerous nut who would be "America's Hitler" to happily serving as his loyal little lickspittle. He can't be shamed, but he should still be insulted as often as possible.
Shapiro: J.D. Vance is profoundly and pathetically a weak human being, and he does whatever he thinks his boss wants him to do.

What we need right now is not idiotic gaslighting from the sitting VP

He should be ashamed of himself—and he’s not. I think that speaks to the weakness of his character.

It's hard even to comprehend how stupid this has become

Trump's Truth Social post about elections was almost certainly a Miller special. If he didn't write it he was standing over Trump as he did.

He is the real president.

The complete lack of basic professionalism among ICE officers shouldn’t cease to shock us. These are people who would be fired from any other job if they acted this unhinged.
I think it is probably a bad idea to put clearly unhinged, angry psychopaths in federal law enforcement positions.

You're not living in an authoritarian country.

Except for the part where the president seizes unprecedented powers.
And the part where he orders sham prosecutions.
And the part where he invades countries to take their oil.
And the part where his White House rewrites the history of his coup attempt.

I read Jon King's memoir 'To Hell With Poverty' - despite Go4 making the best post-punk record with 'Entertainment!' I feel like he (who wrote the lyrics and sang) might have fit in better with the Mekons ethos (they were mates in Leeds). It's not made by great men.

To add to this, what this has meant since the days of Reagan is not that govt is doing less but that more of its responsibilities are being shifted to private contractors who are less accountable, more expensive and who profit from professional growth until cheaper and less skilled staff rotate in
