Love the new protected bike lane in NE Minneapolis—in the last 15 years of living in this neighborhood, I never thought I’d see the day I’d bike Lowry Ave. Now we can! We need to imagine good things, because they can materialize with vision and hard work!

There's always a mix of excitement & anxiousness leading up to the first snowfall of the year. You're excited to see the seasons turn & the beautiful snow-covered scenes & also know that winter riding can be totally different with things to remember that you haven't thought about in awhile.

We need people willing to make public comments directly to the SPPD Eastern District in response to what happened yesterday.

We will pack their community meeting at 722 Payne Ave on December 16th at 6pm. If you can't make it then, there's an additional time at 9am.

Press are welcome to attend.

From the MN Society for Professional Journalists: St. Paul police shot three photojournalists (MPR, Reuters, Sahan Journal) with "less lethal" munitions during an ICE operation yesterday. One had to go to the hospital. They say they were specifically targeted by St. Paul police.

If you're in a position to be able to donate, please consider supporting our Give to the Max Day fundraiser.

Any amount helps as we work to scale our program in 2026. Our fleet is at least 4x larger than it was in spring of 2025, requiring more $ for secure bike storage, bike insurance & repairs.
Support the Mpls Cargo Bike Library on GiveMN
Park Tool is matching all donations up to $5,000! Help BikeMN reach our $15,000 goal.

Given how poorly they often react to it, you'd think shaking your head at drivers doing illegal stuff is just about the most offensive thing you could possibly do. Just had a weak little insecure guy honk then call me homophobic slurs, all because I shook my head about him blocking the crosswalk.

Wanna stick it to Trump and live up to the Paris Accords, California? Stop driving so much *and* tell your city council's to build bus and bike lanes instead of throwing away money on car infrastructure.

Hit 6000 miles of riding on this beauty yesterday since I picked it up a few years back. I love how comfortable and strong this bike makes me feel. It rides smooth as you could ask for, feels steady and reliable, and I can easily cruise along near 20 mph. As a 1989 model, here's to another 36 years!

Fantastic to see!

Unfortunately, over here across the river the new Fish Hatchery trail isn't even fully open yet and the copper's already been stolen out of many of the lights.

This should be taken as pretty solid universal advice for just about anything you're trying to do. Instead of using AI, build and sustain real friendships instead.

I used the public preview of Fitbit’s new AI Health Coach and became both faster and noticeably weirder.

Nope.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Today's ICE flight at MSP was operated by Denver Air Connection's N975DC as TYSON60, flying the usual Mon/Wed route of AEX-MSP-OMA-AEX; three DHS vehicles delivered deportees to Signature Aviation's ramp at MSP around 11:45 AM, where ~17 people were shackled at their wrists, waist, and ankles.

The fact that Volvo is acknowledging this is huge and I applaud them for it. It’s frustrating that cab-over designs, which offer superior visibility, are largely unpopular and marginalized in the current North American marketplace.
In tight spaces or heavy traffic, it’s not always easy to see who’s near. Active Side Collision Avoidance Support uses radar to detect cyclists or pedestrians on the sides. If someone’s there, it warns you or even steps in to brake if needed so you can keep others safe, even when visibility is low.

Imagine a town with only burger joints and one or two salad places 20 miles away. It would be hard to say the evidence is overwhelming that the majority of the town’s residents prefer burgers to salads. To me, that’s the suburban/urban housing preference debated distilled to its essence.

It’s almost impossible to measure what people prefer in an environment where all kinds of factors influence where and how people live. There’s also an obvious absence of choice in most of the country. I’d warn against saying any evidence is all-caps overwhelming one way or the other.
Right, this is true, but the OVERWHELMING evidence of the past 100 years of American life is that vastly more people want space and a car than a smaller unit and a car-free lifestyle. This is mostly why the suburban share of US population has grown relentlessly for the entire 20th and 21st century
Some people put a premium on space in my experience, others put a premium on not having to have a car and not being isolated out in the suburbs

This is because our country has spent the last 100 years designing all of our infrastructure around cars. Some of the most expensive and desirable areas in any state are the dense, walkable areas. But people can't afford to live there.

Call me old fashioned but I still believe there's a place for arguing that suburbia makes your life more miserable and uninspiring.

Toss on top of that the negative health and financial impacts of car dependency.

People can be persuaded by good storytelling.
