Save Our Streets is filing yet another lawsuit against the City of Saint Paul to try and halt the Summit Avenue Reconstruction.
No problem.

I've doing a practice lately of when I see a result that I don't like in a project or program that I don't like, go back and look at the studies, EIS, alternative analysis that produced the decision.

Hopefully it will help me to catch some of the flawed logic I have sometimes
Priority 1: Current or Advanced Program Development

Priority 2: Corridors in Planning

Priority 3: Potential Future Corridors
MN Rail Plan Update! Here's their analysis on desired city pairs and corridors for future study.

It's easier to justify a new investment for a grade-separated rail line that can run every 2 minutes when you've only spent a couple hundred million on a corridor versus billions.
I'd much rather build a ton of cheaper BRT corridors.

Allow more communities across the metro experience the power of high quality buses, which leads to higher ridership and political power that can one day be leveraged to build a grade separated metro network.
Especially when rail will usually quadrupule the budget on the low end.

Rail makes sense when you need high capacity, or when it can hit higher speeds (either in its own corridor, or median running in an area without a ton of crossings Iike the Blue/Green Line Extensions)
will say that they prefer the bus over the train due to quality of life and/or safety issues then the other way around

Trains make sense for some things, buses make sense for somethings.

Middle/uppermiddle class people's perceptions shouldn't dictate the mode choice
People like trains for the vibes, and because it historically represents a different level of standard then a bus

But things like the Gold Line, and the D Line can start to shift people's perspectives of what good buses are.

Also, i've talked to more people who actually ride transit who
The MN version of racism is we're gonna get you out the gutter, but we dont believe that your worthy of challenging our intellect and power and judge you for not code switching and knowing all of the progressive lingo to our liking and keep you in your place below us.
Its eye-opening to go the MN Council of Nonprofits Conference and still see like 80% white people there.

All these nonprofits probably have DEI statements and land acknowledgements.

When it comes down to who they gonna invest in, and who the leadership is the diversity isn't there.
Thank you for sharing.

We also need to invest in trans specific shelters to protect folks who are at much higher risk for violence while unhoused.

I found this study the other day talking about this

Thank you to Senator Dibble, Maye Quade, and Boldon for authoring SF 5205, and Representatives Finke, Keeler, Reyer, and Curran for authoring HF5036. Which was folded into larger legislation to author this study

2023-2024 was a great time for legislation in the state

We must take back the Trifecta
Really interesting study on shelter needs for trans people experiencing homelessness in MN.

My heart breaks for those in my hometown who rely on transit.

At the same time I'm blessed for the people who tirelessly fought for the transit sales tax to be passed here, and the electeds who made sure that it didn't get watered down as much as it could.
MCTS is quite literally going to go through a death spiral next year. I don’t think MCTS has ever proposed cutting this much service at once in its history. I can’t really say anything else now, besides the fact that we are literally losing our bus system.

This is true. It is nice to not have a war of the PACs that so heavily looms over our elections.
