Currently dealing with long covid
The roof on my 2021 Mazda MX-5 seems to have failed right at the same time as the car was most needed. Found mildew, or mold, I don’t know, from the two weeks while I was in the desert, pooled water on the floor. Moving feels more like “rapid disassembly” than process at this point

Weird, how trying to close your Xfinity account causes the chat to lock up (and trying to route you into an appointment a week away), or the causes automated voice chat to stop - blatantly illegally preventing you from terminating your service.

Mold has both this internal psychotic character (something hidden behind the walls poisoning you) then this external manic one - you’re trying to convince everyone (who have low context) why you’re taking massive steps like getting rid of things and storing some and moving

Adblock plus forced a popup on me during a critical, panicked session of internet usage. You motherfuckers you knew this would happen. Someone would be looking up critical housing or medical information under time pressure and get your shitty popup.

Want to run old versions of UNIX for the PDP-11 on modern hardware and OSes like Linux, macOS, or FreeBSD? You can do it now for educational purposes and see how much Unix evolved over time. Ancient UNIX versions available for the PDP-11 include Version 1/5/7 UNIX & 2.11BSD UNIX. Give it a try.

I remain skeptical of the idea that you should wait until the stage that a fascist authoritarian project is completed before you can say things like 'I love Hitler' and 'blood and soil' or 'the international jewry' or 'criminal illegal aliens eat your pets' are 'fascist.'

Apple kind of conveniently integrated Keychain into Firefox, but snuck in a little secret feature: it blocks Firefox's password generation for new accounts and wants you to open the page in Safari to generate a new password.

I love TikTok pitching me a new tranche of videos on some evidence-adjacent (but not evidence based) potential panacea. Trauma! MCAS! POTS on its own! Nervous system regulation!

A simple proposal from the Republicans: die fast (starvation) or die slow (unaffordable health care).

Great thread, and tangent I think @hilaryagro.com is on point here about substance abuse often developing out of trauma that people struggle to name or acknowledge (don’t want to criticize their family) and thus repeat the cycle. Saw it often in the recovery space.
A writer tried dating alt-right men as an experiment to learn about them. There is so much going on here I don't even know where to start

After a lengthy period of difficult reflection, I have reluctantly decided to endorse my own party’s nominee. Despite being overwhelmingly popular with voters, I will be extremely careful to frame my endorsement using bad faith language cribbed directly from their opponent’s attack ads

I can see why mold causes such psychic damage. It sounds like a paranoiac delusion: there's some secret substance potentially _inside your walls_ that's making you sick in ways that feel obvious and yet are nearly impossible to externally verify.

i think it's like the weird corporate obstinance over work-from-home; in the end, control and hierarchy are more important to these people than any specific ideology, and they'll commit or ignore any sin to preserve those things
