Obviously saying “hey that’s not their name/they prefer [pronoun]/etc” is not policing it’s just letting someone know they made a mistake
The only time you should take it upon yourself to police another person’s language is if they’ve used a commonly-agreed upon slur, don’t inject your language preferences into someone else’s life
