DOJ's response to MN's request for TRO to be able to get evidence of Alex Pretti's murder is sealed--bc, DOJ claims, FBI Agents in MN have been threatened. It presents no evidence of that. INSTEAD, it cites a Jan6er who threatened HIS FBI agent.

🚨 This should alarm everyone.

The #UK has lost measles elimination status — not because vaccines failed, but because vaccination rates fell.

The US is on track to lose it too.

#Measles is highly contagious, dangerous, and vaccine-preventable.

I don't care how narrow your district is and how many times you've won reelection, you're just not a very good politician if you couldn't see where this was all headed last summer, let alone last week
A few days ago, Rep. Laura Gillen was one of 7 House Democrats who voted with Republicans to fund DHS without the policy changes most Dems wanted. Now she’s calling for impeaching Kristi Noem. Politics are rapidly shifting here.

ICE is acting like this because there aren't many hotels left that will let them in.
Minneapolis, MN -

Many more agents outside the hotel filing in, a few journos had weapons pointed at them. Teargas deployed at the small remaining protesters outside the hotel.

Nomani is notorious for this kind of faux journalism.

When she reached out (for already public information), she conveniently left out that she’s the *senior contributor* at The Federalist, as if we didn’t have Google.

This was our response: would it shock you to learn she didn’t publish it?

In today's @nytimes.com, @barryfriedman1.bsky.social and I argue that, with no *other* means of pursuing accountability for lawlessness by ICE, local/state prosecutions become not just legally viable, but necessary—both to punish past abuses and to deter future ones:

John Roberts struck down the ACA’s Medicaid expansion as a 10A violation because the law was, as he called it, a “gun to the head” of the states who did not want to help their residents.

Now Trump’s putting *literal* guns to the heads of Minnesota’s residents to force their gov’t to betray them.
Carter turns to the voter roll demand, which they lost in the courts.

Per Carter, the government responds: "We don't care. We're going to put violence and chaos in the streets and we're going to force it with illegal conduct."

"If THAT doesn't violate the 10th Amendment...."

I have used literally EXACTLY this tactic, it works as perfectly as if it were tailor-made for the purpose.
I once read a thread on sexism in international relations/spying where women were instructed to make wrong claims about X whenever they wanted to get secret information on X; a man would just disclose the key info by means of mansplaining

the smartest thing to do right now would be to make a show of disciplining some ICE agents and quietly pull back from minneapolis. the president offers his condolences and maybe even makes a direct donation to the family. you fire bovino and replace him with someone more quietly depraved, etc.

Elected officials often wriggle out of these situations - placating public opinion and defusing demands for reform - by throwing one cop under the bus. That option is unavailable to Trump because if even a hint of *possible* accountability is introduced into this dynamic, the whole thing collapses.
