Is the government ever going to release the name of the masked agent who killed Alex Pretti or are we going to continue to have a federal secret police in this country?

Also part of the global diversification push by the EU - the Security and Defence Partnership that will be signed with India this week. Quite remarkable to see the EU flag flown at an Indian parade.
The display of the flags of the EU, the EU Military Staff, and our maritime missions ATALANTA and ASPIDES at India’s Republic Day is a powerful symbol of our deepening security cooperation.

It will culminate tomorrow in the signature of our Security and Defence Partnership.

My essay "Can States Force ICE to Take Off the Masks?" is now published in the Southern California Law Review Postscript.

It argues that states lack the authority to ban ICE agents wearing masks--something that 18 states and many localities have considered or tried.

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

Things are so bad that the Minnesota prison system has had to launch a website specifically to combat DHS lies. The first major release from DOC officials suggests Gregory Bovino outright lied about the target of the Border Patrol operation during which agents shot and killed Alex Pretti.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

For anyone at the BBC still struggling with reporting a contested situation, here’s how:
✅ Do report what you can see
✅ Do say what’s still uncertain
✅ Do report different people’s claims
but crucially:
❌ Don’t treat all claims as equally valid
❌ Don’t omit context
❌ Don‘t hesitate to identify lies
'The normal rules of engagement have been thrown out - Alex Pretti was on his knees when first shot was fired'
There is no obvious evidence that Alex Pretti was intent on massacring a group of immigration agents, as the Department of Homeland Security is claiming.
