got some blocks over this so i want to clarify: pumping the brakes on an objectively popular push to destroy ICE is self-sabotaging behavior. nothing the republicans will do will buoy ICE's popularity. the only people keeping ICE's prospects alive are folks trying to rehab it with training & reforms
we have to pursue destroying ice right now because of the simple fact that democrats can't be trusted to carry on the project of eliminating militarized policing in our lives if they're ever in power. a democrat in the white house can no more be trusted to lead/continue that effort than a republican

I’m in a capitalist/teaching hellscape where I’m grateful that my mom died during my winter break so I could sit at her bedside for hours without worrying about having to write lesson plans, while knowing that my entitlement to 3 days of bereavement leave means more work than it’s worth.

There’s nothing more festive than sitting at the hospital with your mom who’s essentially not there anymore, while your dad pops in occasionally and tries to hand off decisions to the daughters who don’t have medical authority to do anything. Get those advanced medical directives, people!
