This, every day, this ⬇️
Immigration is a good thing. It has brought enrichment, talent and energy to the country and, on a personal level, a family life.
It's got to be managed, it's got to be fair, it's got to be humane and it's got to exist.
Thank you to Anna Bird, CEO of @contactfamilies.bsky.social for reminding MP’s that some children will always need support with getting to school. My son is one of those young people who no longer receives transport to school even though he has a #LearningDisability and cannot travel without support

What a beautifully uplifting concert at the Birmingham Symphony Hall tonight.

‘Bringing the light’ brought together the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, youth choirs, and original pieces by Joan Armatrading, Cassie Kinoshi and Roxanna Panufnik.

There was a message of unity and hope. Brilliant Brum ❤️

When I arrived in the UK 25 years ago I had a job at a university that paid £21k. I could barely make ends meet but I worked hard and eventually I succeeded. I guess this Labour government considers young broke hardworking me a “taker”?

Fuck this.
This is so disgusting.

Ok, so I know I’ve been up since 5.30am and I’m feeling frazzled, but listening to the #WorldCup draw is like listening to my 16 year old do a further maths equation!!

I’m lost 😂😆🤣

Anatomy of a Cancellation - what a waste of time!

Even more horrific was listening to author Philip Pullman having to pause before answering if he was a racist or not. FFS.

Impossible to exaggerate what a brilliant writer Henry is. Pisses me right off tbh.

I'm thrilled to announce that I've just filed my first copy for The New Yorker.

I hate the R word and will never understand why so many people continue to use it.
Growing up with a sister who has a learning disability, I’ve seen people shout the R word at her. That was in the 80s and 90s. Now we’re in the 2020s and I am seeing world leaders and tech leaders use it and I cannot begin to tell you how devastating that is.

Laura K has spent the last five or so minutes trying to get an answer to a ‘gotcha’ question!

Move on!!

I want to hear about growth in the economy and how young people can get jobs.

Hardly the only time this government has let rightwing online trolls guide policy if we are being totally honest.

This is rooted in the idea that disabled individuals should be "grateful for gruel". It's perception over reality as policy, no matter the way it reinforces the perception. 1/

How predictable and misleading. I thought the series was great for many reasons, from featuring Indigenous peoples in their own words, multiple languages, and its way of connecting huge political change to individual stories. Radically different, and better, than any previous BBC series on empire.

Almost forgot I wrote this piece with the tail end of my bubble plots. But if you want to know how many Reform voters think white people face worse discrimination than ethnic minorities, I’ve got the goods.
Finally got round to giving @benansell.bsky.social's latest. It's also one of his very best - especially if you want to understand the extent to which Reform voters (often talked of as 'the people' and, apparently therefore, representative of all UK voters) are real outliers, culturally-speaking.
