This might sound like snark but it's just an honest reply:

The state's right to carry out violence at will is a top priority of any state, but certainly of a state that's a white supremacist patriarchy.

And the use & abuse of women's & children's bodies is a feature, not a bug, in such a system.
Still can't get over how Apple and Google removed the ICE app that alerted people that ICE was in the their community, but won't remove an app that has an AI tool that creates 'nonconsensual sexualized images of women and CHILDREN'
X’s Grok AI tool is being used to generate nonconsensual sexualized images of women and children. This is unacceptable. @wyden.senate.gov, @markey.senate.gov, and I are demanding that Apple and Google remove X and Grok from their app stores until Elon Musk addresses these heinous violations.

A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter.

I need y’all to realize this. Black people experience this lack of visibility all the time when it comes to being victims.

The administration is lying about it. Grow a spine and say so.

Polls show that 70% of Americans oppose the war in Venezuela. But at this CBS News staff meeting, that number feels much smaller.

WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

For all the jokes about how Cheney would have loved war in Venezuela, Trump is decidedly not a neocon. Trump wants to hold people at gunpoint to get what he wants (oil, stopping nuclear facilities, drug trafficking). The neocons believed they could spread Jeffersonian democracy through force.

I've been saying for years—and I mean YEARS—that place-centric politics is one of the best forms of counter-reactionary politics that we have.
Mamdani sketched the collective as connected by a single unifying identity—that of a New Yorker—which in turn is made up of a set disparate strands, tied together through diversity. Here, Mamdani challenges the white nationalist vision of America, and celebrates the American creed.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

Big protests going in Iran, and the state is trying to put them down with force, already killing 3.

I don't know where this is going, and the Iranian government has survived big protests before. But whatever happens, it's admirably brave when people take on violently repressive regimes.
At least 3 reported killed during widening protests in Iran sparked by ailing economy
Protests over Iran's struggling economy have spread into rural areas, with at least three people killed.

Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.
