This can't really be shared enough. Memorise the detail, tell people who need to know.
“How many refugees have been granted asylum in the UK?”

Most people overestimate the number - by a lot. With far-right figures spreading misinformation, it’s hard for the public to know the truth.

Watch the video to see just how wide the gap is between perception and reality.

Now too excited to work for the rest of the day...
Want to walk into and through an actual Iron Age house…and UP THE STAIRS?
Of course you bloody do.
Come with me.

Carn Liath broch, just sitting quietly beside the A9 as thousands whizz by without stopping. Their mistake.
Far too excited to wait for #HillfortsWednesday

"Hey mum, did you see me on TV this morning? It was my first major appearance! Yeah, I got getting walked into saying we'll be seizing refugees' jewellery when they arrive here"
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

Everything about the current 'debate' around this is dismal, not just morally but because it is so stupid. For example:

It conflates asylum-seeking and illegal immigration (and sometimes with migration generally)

It shows no understanding of why there is AS

Labour pumping the accelerator in the race to the bottom.

The Danish policy confiscates jewelry from asylum seekers to cover costs.

I'm married to the daughter of a refugee and by far the most important objects in the in-laws house are the handful of pieces of jewelry her family arrived here with.

The only way these people think you can counter Reform is by emulating them.

Countering them with facts or a heartfelt defence of our humanitarian obligations has never been an option.
This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities
