There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

I've spent the weekend with friends and touching grass, so I haven't been following the conference. I'm assuming that the trans motion was passed and the party now has some democratic mandate to give trans people rights. If so, that is good. Having more parties supporting trans people is good.

For, perhaps, the unaware: Trans rights have been debated pretty much continuously by everyone in the establishment for the past 7 years. To see this and to respond "yes we want more of that but socialisty" seems callous at best.
