two Ms, one German, one American, married, you will figure out who is who somehow… based in Nuremberg, Germany with roots in Florida, USA. Disney, travel, life in Germany with an international background.

We’ve gained a lot of followers from the Disney/theme park community of late, so I guess I should put out a few posts about us. I’m the American M, living most of the year in Bavaria with my wife, the German M. We first met at … DAK in 2011 and the rest is a long and tortured history. 1/…

They’re clearly plugging this dude into an IV regularly and, if this were Biden, there would be demands for weekly hour long press conferences from his doctors on his health. But that’s not how authoritarianism works so stop asking questions already.

Q: Should Netflix be allowed to buy Warner Brothers?

TRUMP: That's a question. They have a very big market share. I'll be involved in that decision

This is what government censorship actually looks like: defunding entire fields, deporting researchers, and quite effectively chilling speech that helps people understand how our information systems are being exploited and calls out powerful people and platforms for their bullshit.
For the last decade, the pervasive spread of bullshit & manipulation of online platforms have been widely recognized societal concerns. Now non US citizens studying those subjects can be labeled “censors” & denied visas or deported from the US. Censorship, indeed. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...
Exclusive: Trump administration orders enhanced vetting for applicants of H-1B visa
An internal State Department memo said that anyone involved in "censorship" of free speech should be considered for rejection.

This makes me feel good. Now, let’s see if the U can win a playoff game.

This is shocking. And makes you also wonder how equally uninformed people are on other important issues…
Wow.
This says *everything* about the German defence debate, really.

For YEARS experts have fretted over public opinion on defence spending and how it would be impossible to justify spending over 1 or 2%. Turns out 35% (!!!!) of Germans think we’re already spending OVER 5 % of GDP. WTH.

So, I learned something today that I’m sure I knew, but had forgotten. In order to get to Christmas market, we walked behind the local Porsche dealership. It was closed, because it’s Sunday. It absolutely blows my mind that the auto lobby in this country allows that. Sundays are 1-2 for sales in USA

So, as wife posted, we eased into Crazy German Christmas Market Season by going to a small (tiny?) one out in the garlic fields. I enjoyed being outside in relatively warm (49 degree) weather and seeing villagers having fun. But my attitude on them is largely the same as American outlet malls. …1/2

If the Sep. 2 boat really had "narco-terrorists" on board, questioning the survivors would have been a way to learn about how the organization worked, where more drugs were stashed, etc. But this isn't a counter-terrorism campaign. It's a shooting gallery with helpless targets.

BRENNAN: When Trump says "affordability is a con job," his approval on the economy is down to 36%. Don't you need to show you feel the pain?

BESSENT: HE's frustrated by the media coverage

BRENNAN: The polling is of average Americans

"sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat"

What did you think they were able to do at that point? Launch their Iron Man gear?
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

Went out to the garlic fields for a small Christmas market at the Almoshofer Schloss. It’s owed by the city and used for cultural events and courses and such. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr (volunteer fire brigade) offered Feuerspatzen (fried dough in cinnamon sugar, literally fire sparrows). Delicious!

Apparently, I was a bit off. According to Siri and Health.com:

The average cost of a colonoscopy in the U.S. is $2,125, with nearly $80 in out-of-pocket fees. Your cost for the procedure with or without insurance will depend on where you get it done and your insurance coverage.

Very levelheaded and realistic views about the Orange Devil, Putin and the security and stability of the EU. As I keep reminding our ex-pat pals, you’re not safe just because you currently reside in Germany 🇩🇪. Maybe you should have argued more with the father in law at Thanksgiving 2016.
Oh to be a fly– or another kind of bug – on the wall of the emergency Starmer, Zelensky, Merz and Macron meeting in London tomorrow. European leaders have been obsequious about Trump’s zigzags in public; but much more honest in private if last week’s leak to Der Spiegel can be believed. 1/

I like to think I’m up on my fast food history, but have never heard about this before.
But McDonald's wasn't done with crabs just yet! In 2017, exclusively at San Francisco-area locations, they rolled out a crab sandwich made with snow crab meat salad, mixed with seasoned butter, celery and mayo, topped with green leaf lettuce and tomato, on a long sourdough roll

“And quite frankly, it’s just gross and Donald Trump seems like a gross, bigoted, racist piece of shit.” — former CNN anchor Don Lemon on Trump’s anti-Somali tirade.

He ain’t exactly wrong, but you’d never know if you watched his former employer.

I think this is a great point. I don’t get why people I absolutely believe are good insist on remaining on a platform run by a Nazi oligarch who has already caused untold death and destruction. There’s no but here.
Maybe I'm just old enough to remember going from friendster, to Myspace, to Facebook etc.

I don't get why people don't just move on when a Nazi is profiting from your engagement. "We've always been at war on twitter" isn't a good look

If you’re posting on Nazi Elon’s platform, then you’re part of the problem. I’m sorry, but that’s reality.
I want to be clear, I absolutely do *read and check* X. That's important for many reporters. It is also a totally different activity than posting, which is literally producing work for Elon's extremist political project.

Every excuse I hear sounds like "But you don't understand, I have to support the Nazi party while I study it"
