In 2022 they wanted to classify it as a WMD: "As synthetic opioid overdose deaths in the United States reach historic levels, some policy stakeholders have sought U.S. action in designating fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.."

All these "illegals" abusing SNAP benefits also buying up all the houses.

How does that even work.
FOX NEWS: Do you believe that the number of people who came into the country illegally is one of the major factors that drove up housing prices?

FED GOV STEPHAN MIRAN: I absolutely believe that's the case

A reminder that in 2022, President Biden signed the “Eliminating Limits to Justice for Child Sex Abuse Victims Act,” eliminating the statute of limitations to file civil action for federal sex offenses. Seems relevant.

But the NYT had evidence directly contradicting Donald Trump‘s claims that he’d never been to Epstein‘s house and that they cut ties 15 years ago.

Seems like that could’ve been a story.
I am not defending Landon’s relationship with Epstein. In fact, the NYT didn’t even try to defend it. He left the paper. What I’m saying is that a piece of investigative journalism that exposes a secret, criminal act such as statutory rape requires far more than what is in these emails.

When you get Boebert to say "no" to you...
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

I don't know the legal system and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I'm going to make a leap and assume judges aren't fond of defendants moving goal posts.
"Defendants’ October Letters and their subsequent mistakes in November have repeatedly shifted the goalposts for States, each time requiring States to rely on incorrect information not in accordance with the law. As such, they may not be enforced against the States."

HASSETT: We're comfortable that inflation has come way down

QUINTANILLA: Even though it's been increasing for 5 straight months?

HASSETT: Well I guess there's ups and downs and seasonals

There are ~5,000 armed ICE agents, and ~20,000 CBP border patrol officers (the ones who work outside).

The NYPD alone has ~35,000 cops.

This is not an argument for complacency, but against doomerism.

And to note the importance of flagging their performative toughness aimed at masking weakness.

@chrislhayes.bsky.social nice work having Bucks county sheriff-elect and having him clearly explain how deputizing law enforcement for ICE activity makes it less safe for citizens. Danny Ciesler did a great job explaining and clearly doesn't talk like a politician would.

Taking this out of Prof Kruse's thread to (re?)tell a story from my college years. It's the summer of 1991. The Berlin Wall has just come down a year and a half ago. It's so fresh in everyone's mind that in Berlin, people were still walking the long way around a wall that isn't there anymore.
The diplomatic fuckup after WW1 is a lot clearer: the failure of the League of Nations leading to German reparations and concomitant hyperinflation. The one post-WW2 diplomatic fuckup of which I can think is: the Allies didn't fully denazify Germany; tough to blame anyone for the East/West split.

50 year mortgage - for those who can only afford rent but also want to pay for their own home repairs.
QUINTANILLA: What's more likely -- a $2,000 tariff rebate check or a 50 year mortgage?

HASSETT: They're both really good ideas

“The people” in this sentence are 10 white male billionaires
Trump: "We want a healthcare system where we pay the money to the people instead of the insurance companies. We're gonna be working on that very hard over the next short period of time. Where the people get the money. We're talking about trillions and trillions of dollars."

Now that Dems have capitulated, at the very least they should now make every future extension of funding contingent on Trump following the law. Any lawbreaking must be met with: No more votes from us, period.
