A key point here is the disconnect in awareness between researchers and everyone else (of course this is a feature, not a bug, for the government)

🚀 Today we're launching the 'Night Science Institute', a non-for-profit organization to lead a cultural shift in science! You may say we're dreamers 😉, but we think we're not the only ones. Perhaps today you will join us to make the Day Science and Night Science parts of the process live as one!

Excited to share my first PhD paper in the @sbmontgom.bsky.social lab with @tamigj.bsky.social (www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...)! Standard QTL methods treat each gene independently. But what if a single variant regulates multiple nearby genes at once - what we call “allelic proxitropy”? 🧵 ⬇️

My personal takeaways from Dorrestein's talk on microbiome-derives molecules and big data metabolomics:
- should have taken biochem
- I need to dig more into metabolomics
- SCFAs are so important y'all. Eat your fiber
- also bile acids evidently
- dietary assessments suck 1/2

Our goal is to have 1000 SUFS Teach Ins across the US, by 9/30.

*GASP* 😮

We know, it's a big goal.

If you've received tax dollars for your science, you have a responsibility to inform *your* community what is at stake: public health, the economy, innovation, and America's global leadership.

The US government has dismantled all covid related tracking & reporting despite people dying and becoming disabled every day… Yet they’re establishing a registry to track autism cases and plan to access people’s private medical data.

Autism doesn’t kill. It’s not contagious. This is eugenics

What Republicans are fighting is literally visual symptoms of disability. Being so different, you're difficult and not helpful to the party. That's eugenics. Autism you can hide is fine. Disability you can't needs to be eradicated.

The reason autism has such a stigma in the first place is because so many people who have it are able to mask well enough to pass or are just considered quirky by ignorant friends and family. People with nonverbal or profound autism can't and historically are treated as burdens rather than people.

RFK's sinister autism registry reeks of eugenics and must be fought. That said? Autism is one of the most undiagnosed conditions there is. Only 1 in 4 people who have it are officially diagnosed, and testing is expensive. This cartoonisly evil plan to get rid of autism is dumb on a most basic level.
