I write stories, which are mostly romantic and mostly queer and usually fantasy. You can read them in the @duckprintspress.bsky.social anthologies "And Seek (Not) to Alter Me," "He Bears the Cape of Stars," "Aether Beyond the Binary," and the upcoming "A Truth Universally Acknowledged!"
Gonna finish decorating my Christmas tree while watching Mortal Kombat 😭 what great actor; what a loss.

It has never been a secret that I love Mortal Kombat, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa's influence on Shang Tsung is what *made* him into the way the villain was represented for decades. His work was always amazing in what he did, but he will always be my first (and my favorite) Shang Tsung.

Over on Whatever, it's Day Three of the 2025 December Comfort Watches, and today I'm looking at The Untouchables, and how, for one film, Brian De Palma got out of his own way (at least for me):

The December Comfort Watches 2025, Day Three: The Untouchables
I never quite got Brian De Palma. An unquestionably talented director, he knew how to make a hit — see Carrie and the first Mission Impossible film — and if he was going to fail, he was…

I have been thinking a lot about hie we are simultaneously told that the guys behind AI tech are the most brilliant ones to walk the earth — and yet they require the creative output of the rest of humanity to make their product go, and they resort to stealing it, to boot.

A couple weeks ago we got a lovely note from someone on the other side of the country thanking us profusely for ILLing a book to them. Curious, we looked up the book they borrowed.

It would have cost $1,200 for them to purchase it.

ILL is one of the things I love most about libraries.
Requested a book through ILL over break. It arrived today. Libraries man.

I'd love help spreading the word!!
AND WE'RE OFFICIALLY FUNDED!

But that doesn't mean this deal is over. Come get your books and merch, and help us reach our first stretch goal!

Your Moment of Food Safety™: 4 days is the maximum length perishable leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator.

Time to clean out those Tupperware containers and/or old margarine tubs full of Thanksgiving whatnots.
Friendly reminder that Thanksgiving leftovers are probably well past a safe harbor date, even if properly and promptly refrigerated.

Might be time to trash the mashed potatoes.

This is why non-romance people need to read more romance, honestly: will-they-won’t-they is fine but it is not the same narrative as “they did and then they did again and then they keep going but eventually someone’s gonna find out and then they’re REALLY fucked.”
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

Daily thought about writing novels

I’m glad I figured out that I actually make the book great when I revise it. My 1st draft is ideally a joyful race to the end, and to do that, I have to trust myself. But great ideas happen after that too! And they can’t happen until after the 1st draft is done.
