I have approximate knowledge of many things
If I was a governor I would be asking myself what Trump would do if Federal law required him to proclaim Obama Day
*rubs temples*

As I've spent the better part of the day explaining why I don't think Newsom should be the Democratic nominee for president, it pains me to "defend" this, but...

The governor of California is legally obligated to proclaim each Feb 6 Reagan Day per a 2010 state law.

Interesting to me because I was a very picky eater when I was younger, and I mean well into my 20s.

Up to then my score would be 29.

Now 30ish years later my score is maybe 4-5 depending on how strongly we mean NOT. I could eat any of them if pressed, but 4 or 5 I strongly prefer not to.
7 for me how about y’all ?

I think a lot of people would be surprised to learn how many small towns are politically dominated by their wealthiest resident, who owns a car dealership or fast food franchise or meat processing plant or whatever. America has been sowing oligarchs for a very long time.
Basically my conviction is, nobody should have enough wealth to single-handedly disrupt democratic accountability in a town of 1,000 — much less somewhere larger. Every kid can understand this. Put it in a Schoolhouse Rock.

No offense to any other comic ensemble in human history but COME ON.

This one show would populate at least two Mount Rushmore's worth of comedy legends. (Harold Ramis and Martin Short were in it too.)
The all-time comedy murderer's row.

Without hesitation I will state that I also was the result of an unplanned teen pregnancy and my mother’s life (and father’s) (and later sibling’s) would have been better if she hadn’t had me. She will strenuously disagree of course because she is a loving mother but that doesn’t change the reality.
Mike Johnson: "I was the product of an unplanned teen pregnancy exactly one year before Roe. A lot of people tried to convince my very young parents that they should just take care of that problem. But I am eternally grateful that they allowed me the chance at life."

Terry Pratchett’s Night Watch, though most Vimes books work as examples of devotion to civic duty
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

Minneapolis has FIFTY YEARS of inclusive laws protecting trans people, allowing them to self-identify, and ZERO cases of trans people attacking women in the bathroom. ZERO. Over FIFTY YEARS.
The narrative is that trans people will harm and harass people in the bathroom, but it almost always is actually like this case where the aggressor is the transphobe confronting the trans person. It's ridiculous. They want to kick "undesirables" out from public life entirely, if they could.

Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah.

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

And so deeply inspired by his example.

Can't find good sources now but years ago I read that the majority of popular American xmas songs were written around the 40s/50s, which was also an era when novelty songs in general were at their peak popularity in the US
There's plenty not to like about British Xmas music, especially if you ever had to work in retail or pubs in December, but it's fundamentally *party* music. US Xmas music is schmaltz.

It should go without saying to anyone who isn't a dumbshit that "No formula is superior in nutrition to breastmilk" does not mean "No formula provides sufficient nutrition"
RFK Jr: "All of the ingenuity of corporate America has not produced an infant formula that is superior in nutrition and all the qualities that we want to the infant formula that God made, which is the infant formula in a mother's breast."

As I stood there alone
And I thought to myself how the moon
That night cast its light
On my heart's true delight
And the reef where her body was strewn

Years ago, still relatively early in my tech career, we had an incident and a last minute meeting was called. I was the second person to walk into the room, and the first person said "Mike, are you aware when you walk into the room it feels like everything is going to be okay?"
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.
