Not what RFK Jr told me! He never uses fluoride and his brain is…oh, ok
“In the first US study looking at whether the recommended fluoride levels in drinking water affects brain function, researchers found that the hot-button mineral has no negative impacts on cognition – and may actually be giving it a boost.”

They are trying to dumb-down America.

Given the prevalence of such stories recently, I have an obvious question:

Do university administrators have their courage and sense of decency surgically removed, or were they born without them?
This is the most alarming story I’ve read today. Giving up the fight before it’s started

For the record, if I spread pseudoscientific bulls*** like Vinay Prasad did, with the assistance of the New York Times and other media outlets, I would lose my job and never be able to work in my chosen field again.

But no one would die because I was maliciously incompetent.

This is profoundly irresponsible by AGSulzberger’s NYT, @by-cjewett.bsky.social +eds.

The normalization, “view-from-nowhere”, “born-yesterday”, stenography, “both-sides”, irresponsible headline are disgraceful.
THE story is the CDC&FDA are being destroyed by antiscience & Americans will die.

If a Psych prof assigns students an essay response paper with explicit guidelines and then flunks a student for turning in a paper that ignores those guidelines but instead makes vague gestures to "the Bible" then THAT IS NOT A VIOLATION OF THE STUDENT'S RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.

Why does The Guardian cover American politics better than American media outlets?

Because democracy dies in avarice.
In 2022, Biden earmarked billions of dollars to help former coal communities. It was the largest investment in Appalachia since LBJ's 1960s’ war on poverty.

But Trump won West Virginia 70% to 28% in 2024. And now he's taking away the funding Biden gave them.

When are they going to learn?

By my count, we're up to at least six Cabinet secretaries (Health and Human Services, Education, State, Homeland Security, EPA, and Defense) whose governing philosophy is little more than "kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out."

We are supposed to believe that FDA paused and removed the J&J vaccine immediately after 6 cases of clotting, but they hid 10 kids dying from the mRNA vaccines until Prasad and Hoeg, who were always antivaxx, revealed the truth.

Checks out.

I said a few days ago that RFK Jr. was advancing a stealth campaign to ban vaccination in the US.

That campaign is accelerating, & it ain't that stealthy.

I'll have more to say about this soon, but for now, just take this in: the US under RFK Jr.'s reign of error is about to kill a lot of kids. 1/

What a classless response.
Q: Do you plan to attend Sarah's funeral?

TRUMP: I haven't thought about it yet, but it's certainly something I can conceive of. I love West Virginia. You know, I won West Virginia by one of the biggest margins of any president anywhere.

A Very Famous Professor once told me that I owed it to my university to teach for free, and that the people who always say yes when asked to allow themselves to be exploited (unlike the "owed" part, not his exact words) get the best jobs.

Worst advice anyone ever gave me about anything.
To put this in context, I was offered a teaching track job in 2023 that had a salary of $55,000.

Don’t forget that *Trump’s own lawyer’s argument* to the Supreme Court in the immunity case was that the check on the President using his immunity to order criminal acts was that those under him would not follow illegal orders. Now it’s a crime for lawmakers to remind servicemembers of that?
The President doesn't want you standing up and speaking out against him, so he's coming after me to intimidate all of us.

But I won't back down — and neither should you.

This is the part I dislike most about writing. I'm dyslexic; I see what I think is there, not what is actually there. If you're reading my work, the page isn't always reliable. I need you to see what's written in my head, but if you actually saw what that place looks like, you'd be terrified.
Over the next week (what thanksgiving break? lol) I have to read my book again and finalize it before it goes to *print* and I’m literally paying attention to details like colon vs comma and I’m sure most authors are like this and that’s one reason why you should buy our books. We really care.

By the precedent set by American media, Kamala Harris now has grounds for a $1 trillion lawsuit against the BBC.
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

I have long had an obscure, complex theory about Susan Collins that explains these things.

Susan Collins is terrible and anyone who ever suggested she is a moderate is a liar or a rube.

I wonder if this would work in other situations. Let's encourage our fellow Americans to honor our country by...

- not shooting their neighbors
- not cramming their religion down their neighbors' throats
- paying their fair share of taxes, even if they're billionaires

No, I don't see that working.
