To put this in context, I was offered a teaching track job in 2023 that had a salary of $55,000.
It's impossible to overstate how horrendous this feels to most academics in the US, esp those working at state unis. Higher ed is busy slashing humanities programs allegedly b/c of a lack of popularity (tho they tend to make $$) while paying football coaches US$53 million not to work there

When my brother was a freshman at Penn State, he paid me to outline a chapter of his Psychology 1000 textbook. I loved it so much that I outlined the whole book.

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in our house, but I will be eating leftover Burma Superstar for every meal tomorrow, and for that, I am thankful.

My wife is going to be teaching Intro to Counseling/Intro to Psychotherapy next semester. Does anyone have slides they'd be willing to share with her?

This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for my LETTER WRITERS. The academic job market is relentless and demands so much of applicants AND the people who champion them. I am so thankful for the time, care, and support that my letter writers have given me through the ups and downs of my academic journey.

Hello mental health/suicide researchers! Do any of you use the SBQ-R? I have a question about it. I have used the measure before and remain perplexed by the fourth question.

I went to a party last night, and the only evidence that I was there is this photo of me, alone in a room, sitting on the floor, petting a dog.

I feel so fortunate that I didn’t get into my top choice college so that I could experience the heart of my alma mater (Villanova). I feel so grateful to have been a part of the community of VU, and to have experienced the empathy and kindness of the professors at the university. 🩵 💙

Something Something Soup Something
SOMETHING SOMETHING SOUP SOMETHING could be defined as a videogame. However, we prefer to see it as an interactive thought experiment: a piece of technology that discloses situations and presents notions in ways that are interactive and negotiable (and maybe even playful).

One of the most humbling adult experiences is realizing that you have been using a word wrong for over 30 years. Another is learning that you have been pronouncing a word wrong for just as long.

This sets a really troubling precedent. Texas A&M is the university with the largest student body in the US. This will certainly have a chilling effect across the country.

“The policy defines race ideology as, among other things, ‘a concept that attempts to shame a particular race or ethnicity.’”

These GOP-led efforts will ruin their states’ public universities. Sad!
