Guess which one of these vehicles has a motor that prevents it from going too fast for the safety of others?

Kudos to @sound-transit.bsky.social for such a fun and well planned Federal Way opening event.
It’s been one week since the 1 Line extension to Federal Way opened!

If you joined us for opening day — or even if you couldn’t make it — you’re invited to take our post-event survey. We’d love your feedback on how we did, and how we can make the next opening even better. https://ow.ly/zjre50XIFTU

Something was “upgraded” at Valley Communication’s Dispatch Center, and ever since, all agencies dispatched through them have disappeared from @pulsepoint.bsky.social.

For a couple weeks, a message was up saying it was being worked on, but now there’s nothing. Big bummer if this access goes away. ☹️

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

I'll say again: we are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss.

We say Amtrak and the post office "lose money" but we never say highways, the court system, the Pentagon, etc lose money
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

I walked across this again and can’t imagine feeling safe taking my young kids across (let alone myself) having to wait in the middle of six lanes of speeding drivers with little to no protection other than the curb edge and beg button pole.
This new signal gets an F from me. It has a zig zag pattern, the time to walk is around 10 seconds, and you have to wait TWO LIGHT cycles with a pause in the median to fully cross.

Can’t make the drivers wait.

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

“The bedroom communities of Federal Way and Lynnwood appear to be engaging in “field of dreams” wishcasting hoping ‘if you name it, they will come.’

Back in reality, giving a freeway-adjacent patch of strip malls the name “downtown” or “city center” has yet to summon a downtown in these cities.”

I’ll collect my bet winnings. Federal Way says they will have it operating by tomorrow AM.

Also, this is the first new signal city-wide since 2016! Almost 10 years without a new traffic signal.

I saw this morning that missing signal lights are on the pole, more striping on the pavement, and lanes blocked presumably to do more work today. Maybe they’ll wrap it up by Sat.

Less than a mile west, another new ped signal crossing 320th has been sitting for months installed but not turned on.
Less than a week until the Federal Way @sound-transit.bsky.social Station opens and a signaled pedestrian crossing at the corner of the transit center and dangerous 320th isn’t done. Progress on it has crawled for months.

Unsure if it’s a Federal Way or Sound Transit to-do, but my money is on FW.

Listening to tonight's Federal Way city council land use committee meeting, where a councilmember was questioning the need to add a sidewalk to a street directly connecting Federal Way High School with the light rail station, "because it's a residential area" and would impact parking.

CM Honda also had a line of questioning last Federal Way Land Use and Transportation meeting on temporarily closing a street for the farmers market asking “but where will people park?”

Send her an email, especially if you live in Federal Way. Here is what I sent her after hearing her comments.
