You sweat in your basement for years writing a book, working that nobody will ever read it - or that they will think you are a complete raving idiot, but then you read an astonishing, soul-warming, got-everything review like this and suddenly you feel like your whole life is not actually a waste.
I have a new review in @theguardian.com today, & contrived to write it in such a way they illustrated it with Mario Odyssey. Very happy. It's of C Thi Nguyen's new nonfiction The Score - an excellent game-related book that... well, just read the review:

If/when we finally get something like domestic robots, I wonder if companies like Disney will have an outsize role in figuring out how to make their appearance acceptable (something the various humanoid robot companies seem mediocre at)

While your junior developers are painting the proverbial fences, they're missing out on learning opportunities you *could* be offering them that would ripen these "green tomatoes" much faster.

Are You Training Your Junior Developers, Or Hazing Them?
One of the ways I feel lucky in my software development career is in how I got started. I learned programming by building – well, trying to build – programs. Complete working programs &…

Stunning footage from earlier today, when the new Kilauea eruption covered the USGS Webcam 3, which is situated in the Halemaʻumaʻu crater near the southern rim of the much larger Kilauea caldera.

This *isn't* what the people of Pompeii saw.

But it's not very far off.

Etymology in science usually stops at just photosynthesis, but I use it almost every single lesson.

Here are a few stories of some of my lessons and the impact teaching etymology has made on pupil understanding and literacy.
