I really wish that non-maskers and covid is overers would take a look at the language here and ask yourself, does it really seem all that extreme to take extra precautions before an event you’ve trained your whole life for? And if not, what is reason for such charged language?

There are mostly poor people in US jails because they can’t afford to pay to get released.

We don’t have to hand it to US jails and prisons.

I keep thinking about this. We have processes in place for dealing with hostile situations. One of the biggest is to secure the ballots, regardless of what's going on. The perception is that poll workers are old ladies but it's trending younger every year. We'll protect your ability to vote freely.

I think collectively, we at least partially wanted the child at the Super Bowl to be Liam because the little boy on stage looked happy and healthy and our hearts want so badly to think these children can somehow magically recover from the evils our government is doing.
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.

“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
‘He’s not the same’: Father of Liam Conejo Ramos says 5-year-old continues to suffer
Some people thought they say the 5-year-old during the Super Bowl halftime show. But Liam is still in hiding with his family, after he and his father were detained and then released from a Texas deten...

this is injurious to moral, social, and all human life
I arrived too late to an abduction yesterday. Ice vehicles boxed in a food delivery driver on the highway. They took him, and when I came on the scene (with a few other neighbors in cars), his keys were still in it. We found his phone, a debit card, his car title and registration.

How are we supposed to keep clocking in at work when mega concentration camps are being built
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

Bad Bunny's halftime show was such a great example that entertainment can be **entertaining** and also very intentional about saying something

For too long audiences have been fed this canard (across various media) that if TV/film/etc is doing the latter, then it's boring & very eat-your-vegetables

There's a meta-point here, which is key: Commercial AI tools are built for bosses. It's very obvious, and very simple. This manifests in every part of their design and implementation and use, and it's no wonder they cause burnout.

I say this regularly. People use performative as a substitute for 'inauthentic' and we could all just say the words we mean to say. Erving Goffman helps us to understand that we perform all of the time in real life. Life itself is often a performance of self.
People have worn out "performative." We often perform things that are real, you know. Posting is a kind of performance of one's politics. Performative doesn't actually mean "fake" or "empty," it just gets deployed that way. We actually need performance. Case in point: last night's performance.
