Hi everybody!

I'm Meghan, a disaster researcher working in business resiliency for a large financial firm. Outside of work, I'm active in my community (6th generation in the town), sew and tailor things, and chill with my orange tabbies. I'll research almost anything and make a presentation on it.

remote work is like birth control or UBI atp where there’s overwhelming research consensus they improve quality of life for people they apply to, yet access is impeded or blocked by the ruling class because the thought of marginalized ppl having rich full lives makes steam come out their ears
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

Sometimes I'm rather relieved most people mostly haven't heard of my field of expertise.
Use only water or fresh air on tear gas or pepper spray.

No milk, vinegar, antacids, urine, etc. and especially not in eye.

Thank me later,

An actual expert

First day of rail extension, and naturally there's a service flail with a track out of service.

It's being handled poorly by Japanese standards, amazingly by English standards, and the fact that it's being handled at all puts it miles beyond any other American system.
It is a good one. I agree with @hcrichardson.bsky.social saying Dems need to standardize their messaging to affordability. Everything else is captured in that and everyone knows what affordable means for them.
I listen to @thebulwark.com podcast every day - I do love @timmiller.bsky.social - but the one today with @hcrichardson.bsky.social is particularly good. Check it out.
"It's a tool. Everyone needs to know how to use it!"

No. There are so many tools out there for a variety of things. Not everyone needs them. If it's a tool that I find I need, I'll learn to use it then. I don't need it now, so why learn now? I'm not going to use it.
I was at my old high school today, for the first time in over twenty years, to talk to the teachers about how their curriculum can better support students. AI came up, and so many teachers were saying "Well it's a tool, they have to know how to use it, it's the future so we have to accept it!"

i told her that she can't go wrong teaching her kids to read and write and think, and that she doesn't have to use any of this garbage if it's not helping her teach kids how to do those important things. one of my old english teachers was fist pumping in the back row but not sure it really landed.

My best guess is that they’re hoping to inspire some kind of stochastic terrorism from their side, which can be spun into the kind of “riot” footage they like
i have to be honest, gang, i have some questions about this republican strategy of telling everyone to tune in and pay attention to what’s likely to be one of the largest days of political protest in american history directed at the republican party
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

This is what they are. Its not "we disagree with what they want" its "Opposition to us means they hate America"

Churches showing an AI Charlie Kirk telling congregants, through an artificial voice, not to let evil win is a new level of instrumentalizing the dead.

When Trump goes, I think we’re going to see the same thing. Visions and AI slop will abound. Prophecies and messages from beyond the grave.
When you make farm laborers afraid to show up to work, nothing gets picked, and it will disrupt the food supply. Everything this administration is doing will create a situation where more farmers can't sell their goods. And it will have hugely detrimental effects on everyone.

I too don't want anyone taking medical advice from RFK, but guess who voted to confirm him as the person people should take medical advice from.

The “guardrails” didn’t really hold in Trump’s first term. He broke through many, and accelerated abuses in 2020.

Beat impeachment, removed inspectors general, and after losing reelection attempted a coup. Failing to recognize that as guardrails crumbling, not holding, was one cause of complacency.

"...the team describes how it performed a broad scan of IP traffic on 39 GEO satellites across 25 distinct longitudes and found that half of the signals they picked up contained cleartext [not encrypted] IP traffic."

Including military data 🙃

Last year, I detailed 8 guardrails Trump crashed through in his first term—including executive branch internal checks, Congressional oversight, and norms against encouraging political violence—identified the legal system as the 9th (he beat that too), leaving a second election as the 10th and final.
The Institutions of American Democracy are Hanging by a Thread
Trump has brought the United States further down the path of democratic backsliding than many realize. The election is the only barrier left.

UPDATE: Remember how we told you @GovBillLee was lying about all the arrests in MEMPHIS being “violent crimes”

@fox13memphis checked. We were right. “VAST MAJORITY non-violent”. Bill was lying 👇🏽

(Now do those “45 missing kids” they rescued 🤔)
