Hello! I'm Sarah (Gryph) and I work in an animal shelter. My partner and I own four cats, used to have a dog, and we TNR in our neighborhood. This account is mostly cat pics, as self care and because that is the candle I hold in the darkness. ❤️ Also occasional gaming and book talk. 🙂
I (blond, white woman in my early 40's; wearing glasses with blue/purple frames) am holding a semi feral kitten (Chessie) in one arm as I take a selfie of us. The kitten is black and white tuxedo, ear tipped, and about three months old. She is very alert, but has loose, comfy body language with one front leg just hanging. She's partially snuggled into the light grey sweatshirt I'm wearing. Behind me is an empty shelter cat kennel.

That's why I'm sad when people bring us "abandoned" pets without even checking to see if the original owner is actually looking for them. Assuming the worst can prevent pets from reuniting with their families.

Working in a shelter, I've seen situations where the person was, as an example, elderly. Kitty escaped while family was moving them and they didn't have the resources to go back and look. There are 100% situations I have seen with my own eyes where bad things happen with a truly loving owner.

I watched a few different people play through the beginning parts of Silent Hill F when it first released, and so far she's the only one who hasn't frustrated me while watching the first altar puzzle since she immediately noticed the details that solve it. 😄 So bravo there!

An attempted family picture, the best one I got out of multiple tries. 😆
A tuxedo mama cat and three kittens in their shelter kennel. Mama is reclining up top on a shelf, enjoying some time away from her children. A floofy white and grey kitten is sitting on some light green fabric and looking at the camera. A brown tabby kitten is standing still, but looking off to the side at random. A black kitten is looking down at the bright orange ball tower he's standing on, completely ignoring everything else.

Also, thanks for the recommend of another Let's Play! I'm enjoying CJUGaming's very much, but I really did also want to watch a woman's LP once I started realizing the themes in this one.

I'm also gonna have to play this one myself, once I have the time and bandwidth.

We just had a 10 year old tortie reclaimed who came in yesterday, microchipped. She went missing when her owner moved 3-4 years ago. ❤️

Microchip your pets! And just bc a pet is left behind when a neighbor moves, it doesn't mean they were purposely abandoned.

I can see that, absolutely! I was talking about when she cries out in pain, is told to calm herself, and, "Yes. I will calm myself." Your pain doesn't matter, you're being too much, be ashamed. Calm yourself. Yes, I will, you're right that I overreacted. Chills, just straight to my heart there.

To me it feels like what it was advertised - Silent Hill but with a clear Japanese base instead of American, using beauty in horror, and with a young woman protag. So it's different from other Silent Hill games but in ways I expected, I guess? Other than way more devastating than I expected!

I guess slightly more context without spoilers. Her responses to Fox Mask during the rituals in general, and then her words and tone at a specific point shot right to my heart. I mean, SUPER well done, that hurt.

I'm still watching a Silent Hill F Let's Play - the one I'm trying to stay with just made it to the three rituals. I don't know for a fact if I'm reading the story/subtext of the game right, but with the way I'm interpreting it there was a part in there I very nearly cried. (avoiding spoilers)

Thank you! It'll be on Tuesday so fingers crossed.

Very proud of myself for remembering that plastic piercing retainers exist, so I don't have to panic about taking out all my piercings AT my MRI appointment. I can deal with that at home before I go.

Found out a few days ago, this little one actually wound up being adopted by his foster family. ❤️ He's even made friends with their dog, it's legitimately so sweet. 🙂

Special little boy who got his feeding tube out today! (It's out of place in this pic.) He had an unfortunate run in with a dog, but is going to a foster home soon where he'll hopefully recover well. He's a little purr and biscuit machine, who this morning tried to get up on my shoulder for hugs. ❤️
Solid black kitten around 4m old. He is sitting up straight in his shelter kennel, looking at me with big eyes and his head tilted. He has a bandage around his neck, and a red tube that he's actually pulled somewhat out of place of where it should be. There is a soft red ball next to his feet, and some smeared canned food on his nose.

He is a cute little mini muffin. 🙂 We happily found him a foster home so he is warm and safe. ❤️

This is not my best shot of Kitsune, but you can see his tail here and why we went with that name. 🙂
Light orange tabby is sitting up straight in his shelter kennel, on a grey towel. His face is a little goofy and looking down, I'm both petting him on his shoulder and trying to gently hold him still with one gloved hand. His tail is resting on the ground, it is long and floofy and a little bit lighter at its tip.

I'll also mention again that if you love little baby kittens, most shelters and rescues are always in need of foster homes for them! Different ages of kittens require different levels of care, so there's some options usually. And it's a great way to enjoy the cute without adding to the population. ❤️

Small baby, very confuse. ❤️ (He's in a foster home tonight.) Yes, it's October and yes, we're still getting babies in. Spay/neuter and TNR are so important!!!

Baby kittens do best with mom, but it's better for everyone if she doesn't have to have them in the first place.
Tiny little brown tabby neo kitten in a transfer cage, about 2 weeks old. He is very confused, poor little guy.

I had that thought when I lost Amos, how thankful/lucky I am to know so many people who understand that even though he wasn't "my" cat, and he wasn't actually handleable, he was so so special to me.

Ohhhh, such an angry little muffin!

Getting ER training tomorrow. I rarely work without someone in the building who's ER certified, but I know they prefer managers to be able to act as backups just in case. Every once in a while an emergency happens - manager cert is only for animals untreatably suffering, if advised by vet on call.

Sending love, I wish they could stay with us longer. ❤️

I love that, thank you for letting me know! ❤️

Pretty Chessie last night. TNR Porch cats are starting to get their fall coats. ❤️
Profile angle of a young tuxedo cat, looking to the side with big eyes while she lounges on my porch. She is on a cat bed covered by a light blue towel, and behind her is a cluttered (lol) porch. One of her white front paws is curled, she'd been making tiny biscuits.

I'm watching the FF colony posts and waiting for you to find a super charismatic tomcat so you can name him Setzer. 😄
