This is mob shit and they could try to use it on any other kind of medical care they don’t like. Abortion, birth control, childhood vaccines
CMS is saying they can do this because this care is not "healthcare" and thus they aren't regulating practice of medicine... seems like a slippery slope? what stops them from next saying abortion isn't healthcare?
Under the proposed rule issued by the Trump Administration today, any Medicare- or Medicaid-participating hospital would be barred from providing gender-affirming care to *any child*, even if the care is not paid for by Medicare or Medicaid.

I love working at the Department of Justice and participating in a conspiracy to cover up the demented 80 year old president's sex crimes. I spend 18 hours a day redacting documents and there's a putrid husk where my soul used to be

I just got a ton of vaccines because I’m getting a liver transplant. I need my immune system to be strong and I need to protect myself from illnesses when I’m weak. I’ll be on immunosuppressants for the rest of my life. When others don’t get vaccinated, it endangers my health.

Can’t stop thinking about this. The Trump administration is essentially extorting hospitals into dropping gender-affirming care—without Medicare or Medicaid they’d go bankrupt. It’s akin to a backdoor ban even for people with private insurance, a proposal that wouldn’t pass Congress.

a sequel:

cis people on the skyline are genuinely more distressed by the trump-kennedy center than the fact that congress said a second time in 2 days, “no, really this kind of child’s healthcare should be banned & criminalized” & 46/47 non-GOP senators won’t commit to “i will oppose this.”

There's a series of things (like the ballroom, Gulf of America) that we're going to have to *undo* the moment this guy is out of office.
And yet I can already hear future Democrat presidents saying "I'm focused on the people's work, not the knucklehead stuff" and just leave this man's shit up.

this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

This kind of observation has always been accurate, but the reason for it is that Republicans have always wanted to win and Democrats are really sleepy and just little guys who don't want to make anyone mad.

A Democrat who was elected sheriff in Pennsylvania last month hopes others are watching: “It sends a message to elected public safety officials across the country that partnering with ICE is a loser in a district that’s remotely a swing district.”
Voters Ousted This Pennsylvania Sheriff After He Signed Up to Collaborate With ICE
A populous swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.
