One of the worst shifts in the new media post-literacy environment is that unsourced claims by random substackers/youtubers become circulated as common knowledge by organizations and no one blinks an eye or thinks about how this is the same way that the conspiracist post-truth right operates.

I disagree with Scullion’s opinion because hiding specific words from children and treating non-slurs as “bad” is foolish at best.
And I was fine leaving it at that, until I read the last paragraph and, frankly, comparing swear excision to accessibility tools for disabilities and phobias is vile.

Fun fact, it’s actually not a decades old retcon
The whole idea behind female custodes being “non canon” was actually due to (according to GW employees of the time) the models being created as masc only first, ignoring the lore and planned characters
But chuds have made this hard to search 🙄

I like how all of the female custodes drama in 40k spaces right now just boils down to "wah wah the toy soldier game franchise with decades of lore that repeatedly is retconned and changed was slightly changed again to put girls in it! This is the most important thing in my life right now!"

Our culture has such a reliance on art, mixed with so much disdain for artists' lives. Someone throws soup at a painting in a gallery or whatever and everyone acts like it's a literal murder, but that level of sympathy is for the object, almost never for the living conditions of artists.
