I was all set to be the screw up in my family, the one who never performed to my potential. Then I got diagnosed and came to understand my work challenges better. I've built an actual life for myself since then, with not much else in the way of support but that diagnosis and the autistic community.
Neurodivergent people in general are at risk of considering themselves or being considered fuck ups. Diagnoses can help things click & make sense, this is why I always had such trouble with the basic parts of being in the world. I’m built different than people it comes easy to. And I deserve care.
