🧵 There's an add running on many podcasts right now for student Google Gemini. I don't want to condescend to students, because I think many are savvy about GenAI, but please understand that "free" year they're offering means training their AI by uploading *your* work, your intellectual property.

Just a reminder that ICE didn't exist until 2002. It's not some longstanding institution that must be maintained. It was created as a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11, and it could be gotten rid of as easily as it was created.

With the way the lock is connected to the box, the tumblers are primed to move in a specific pattern—the one that matches the key to open it. But if the tumblers deviate even a little, they’ll smash down onto the tube, breaking it.
