Last year I fast-drafted a book that ended up at 160k-ish and cut it down to 135k-ish all within the span of like... a month and a half, I think? And I genuinely was feeling the brain fog from it for months after. Sign me up for the "reasonable pace" writing gang 😅

It's been so nice to actually take my time with this WIP, rather than blacking out and drafting it in a month, only to be so burnt out by the experience that I can't form full sentences after the fact. Funny how that works!

I had a dream last night that I wrote my Old West 'Beowulf' retelling, but my favorite high school lit teacher read it, marked it up like an essay, and sent it back to me. And then his notes went viral - not the book. The notes. A win for the Mr. Clinton that lives in my imagination, I guess?
