In the last hour, dozens of GOP lawmakers began to denounce Trump's racist meme.

Minutes ago, the White House capitulated and deleted the post.

If those same lawmakers showed that same level of moral clarity when it comes to the Constitution & fair elections, the White House would capitulate.

My favorite part is that it’s in tetrameter - a more singsong meter. This man does not deserve the dignity of pentameter.
This sonnet has the approval of at least two Shakespeare scholars ( @ktmulvaney.bsky.social and @clarabiesel.bsky.social )
here is an draft, pls feel free to workshop

Trying to figure out if there’s a way to explain to Democrats and median “center right” Trump voters are never going to vote for them, no matter how moderated their ask or their tone. Currently workshopping:

The Yankees don’t plan season strategy based on what would make Red Sox fans happy.

Everybody in higher ed has questions these days. For example, admins ask "how can we get faculty to incorporate AI into their classes?" while faculty ask "can I come in to campus to teach my classes without being abducted by an unlawful paramilitary force?"

Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

I post this intermittently because, frankly, there isn't nearly enough reporting on the abusive food and nutrition conditions that exist within prisons in the United States. Given the carceral climate we're living through, I think it's important to circulate again.

This is incredibly disappointing Libby. You're aware of the environmental impact and yet.

You want to support choice but AI takes the that away from authors whose work was stolen to train AI.

This is embarrassing and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Advocates say Mayor Mamdani can’t change state law, but he can halt NYPD crackdowns like Operation Restore Roosevelt, work with DAs to curb sex worker arrests, and openly back full decriminalization to protect migrant sex workers.

The mayor can’t rewrite state law, but he can take steps toward decriminalization and minimizing sex worker arrests.

I have a weird question for the #bird people on here. Do you think someone could tell that a book was pooped on specifically by a sparrowhawk (or perhaps hawks generally) just from the feces? I'm looking at a 16th c. case where witnesses claim books were pooped on specifically by sparrowhawks!

Controversial but I think I enjoyed Wicked For Good so much less than the first one not so much because of filmmaking skill (I had some notes for the first one I remember and roughly equal praise for the way that introducing Glinda to “Wonderful” and the expansion of the Nessa/Boq arc filled out…

In a workshop to help professors catch AI cheating, I prompted Gemini to write me a bleeding heart emotional appeal on a topic. It spit out a lecture about rationality and how I should argue based on logic. My one and only use of AI was enough to convince me of that.
I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

TurboTax is about to be integrated into ChatGPT, where customers will be guided through tasks tied to their tax filings or financial profile by the AI chatbot.

TurboTax owner Intuit is also paying OpenAI more than $100 million a year to power AI agents.

My university ran a workshop to detect AI cheating that asked us to use it multiple times, so technically I have but Lordy it felt queasy. Also, would have refused if I realized then how garbage detection systems are anyway. AI labeling AI…I’m so tired.
I've never even looked at a ChatGPT screen, nor any other "AI tool" out there. Never will. It's all theft. (Also a stubborn Taurus here.)
Hands up if you've never used Chat GPT ✋

(I feel like Dozer and Tank in The Matrix right now - at first I didn't use it because, rather ironically, I'm lazy and stubborn (peak Taurus energy there) - literally no, don't make me use the new thing I don't wanna. Now I'm glad I didn't 😅)
