In the fascinating new reality of the internet, teen girls can’t learn about periods on Reddit, but a military contractor will make you nonconsensual deepfakes of Taylor Swift taking her top off for $30 a month.

Oh hey, that’s a @communitytransit.bsky.social Swift bus being built 🎉

Bus prices are out of control. Very good article here
Transit boosters often dislike discussing cost containment, fearing they’ll give ammo to enemies.

But agencies need to address endlessly rising expenses. It’s inexcusable that new buses cost ~2x in the US what they do abroad (largely bc of excess customization).
Why US Cities Pay Too Much for Transit Buses
A new paper argues that lack of competition, demand for custom features and “Buy America” rules have driven up costs for transit agencies in the US.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Nope! You will have to drive slower so that people do not die. This is the reason the policy is unpopular.

Earlier this week, all 74 of the Northwest’s endangered orcas gathered into what researchers call a superpod — a sort of all-inclusive family reunion.
Rare orca superpod comes to Seattle
They came together Sunday evening not far from Port Townsend. Why, no one can say for sure, except the participants themselves — and no humans speak their language.
