People were pissed at the budget hearing last night! Lot of powerful testimony from librarians, rec center staff and teachers who had spent the day with traumatized kids and hearing from coworkers scared to come to work because of ICE and SPPD. Frontline staff making $17.50 while SPPD armed for war.

From the MN Society for Professional Journalists: St. Paul police shot three photojournalists (MPR, Reuters, Sahan Journal) with "less lethal" munitions during an ICE operation yesterday. One had to go to the hospital. They say they were specifically targeted by St. Paul police.

@mayorher.bsky.social your silence regarding the actions of ICE and SPPD yesterday is loud & unacceptable. SPPD should not be supporting ICE, should not be using pepper balls, tear gas or other “less lethal” weapons, & should not be attacking journalists, legal observers, & other St Paul residents.

I want to point out a new resource page on Monarca website.

Small (or large!) businesses can post signs saying ICE/CBP must have a warrant to enter premises.

Also Know Your Rights signs for targeted people.

PDFs of signs and KYR cards. Plaster these puppies everywhere.

There's a long history of People's Tribunals & community members in the cities where the regime has sent troops and where ICE/Border Patrol are running wild can organize their own: www.nlg.org/wp-content/u... - they can be used as organizing tools & as a way to force local pols to take action.

Reminder:

The use of tear gas as a method of warfare is prohibited under the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention
Reminder of all the side effects of tear gas & it's just being deployed in residential neighborhoods for a gaggle or three of people who don't want their neighbors kidnapped.

We have got to collectively help people understand that of course the local* cops are acting as an arm of the machine. That is their purpose.

People need to grow their minds & grieve what they've been conditioned to believe about cops being there to help/serve/protect.

It's Trans Day of Remembrance. Today we remember those who were taken from us far too soon because of transphobia in the world.

For many of us, we are misgendered even in death, and disallowed from being who we actually are even when we are no longer here. This is why we remember our dead.

This looks like a great training for Twin Cities folks to attend. Seems to me like a natural extension of some of the existing bike initiatives here.
While we might be taking a breath in Chicago, our friends in Charlotte and beyond are suffering. Join us Monday 7p CST as we host a webinar to give a broad overview of our efforts to support street vendors these past few months. RSVP link below.

I tool this at Bro-tex this morning. From a PiPress article about ICE on Lake St in June '25 "The Southern Poverty Law Center says there are Neo-Völkisch groups that “rely on a romanticized Viking aesthetic and mythos — imagery they use to perpetuate their belief in white racial superiority."

Update as of 10:55 AM:

Federal agents have left the Territorial/Hampden location. Mayor Carter and I are on site.

We have heard reports of several individuals that have been taken by the federal government. At least one person was arrested.

Federal agents caused multiple injuries and deployed tear gas multiple times. The agencies that had a confirmed presence are: FBI, ICE, DEA, and HSI. Federal agents were seen with “police vests” but we have confirmation that SPPD and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office were not involved or present.

City and state leaders need a real rapid response plan for ICE presence in our communities.

"Executing a search warrant" yet pepperspraying observers and kidnapping workers.

We can't trust what they say. We have to recognize what these operations look like and act accordingly.

Federal goons are present in our city. It's long past any need to discuss whether they are here in good faith or not. The raid in Mpls resulted in deportations and no drug arrests.

@melvincarter.bsky.social @mayorher.bsky.social

I hope there's a plan here.
Couple dozen people total (FBI, HSI, DEA) on site surrounding Bro-Tex at Hamden and Territorial.

“Just executing a search warrant” was the answer given on site.
