This is funny. Gov. Greg Abbott delayed in scheduling the #TX18 special—which is taking place under the old lines—and almost certainly did so to keep a Dem seat vacant.

The court cites that still-ongoing special as proof that reverting to the old lines would not be disruptive. Oops!

Just one example of the thinking we'd like to see change. These ads got around $4M each in AZ and OH. Party brands are open source. Everyone gets a say. But it's possible the image of the party might improve if we stop spending millions of dollars each cycle telling voters how wrong we are.

if you're banging drums of war, tell us how your kids are enlisted and plan to fight

don't send other people's kids to die for another GOP president leading us into a war for oil based on lies
ofc they didn't learn anything from Iraq. The New York Times opinion pages will always be thirsty for bloodshed via endless wars.

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.
Calvin Duncan wins Orleans clerk of court race - Verite News New Orleans
Duncan, a political newcomer and former prisoner, defeated incumbent Darren Lombard by a wide margin in Saturday's runoff.

More Kavanaugh stops in action.
Willy Aceituno, a naturalized citizen from Honduras, was confronted by federal agents in a Charlotte parking lot — TWICE.

Federal agents breaking a car window to ask, "Are you an illegal immigrant?" is a symptom of a broken, profiling system that continues to target our communities.
‘Why just me?’ Charlotte man says Border Patrol broke pickup window, stole keys
“Are you an illegal immigrant?” the man said an officer asked. He replied that he didn’t have to answer and asked why he was singled out.

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

This cannot be stressed enough--Trump/GOP immigration overreach has turned ICE into a losing cause. No one wants masked federal agents randomly disappearing people, zip tying citizens, and tear gassing children
This has gotten lost: Abigail Spanberger won big after vowing to RESCIND Glenn Youngkin's executive order directing local cooperation with ICE and voting AGAINST the anti-immigrant Laken Riley Act. Yet she gained bigly with working class.

I think we need to start visualizing the Trump Presidency ending, and socialize it. For it is the right thing to do for the country and the American people.
At this point we have to assume that if the Epstein files are released they will
- end the Trump Presidency
- implicate many other prominent Republicans
- destroy the careers of AG Bondi and his other defenders
This is beginning to feel like the greatest scandal in American history.
Trump has done enormous harm to the country.
He is a deeply corrupt and venal man.
He is wildly unpopular, his agenda more so. He's lost the consent of the governed.
He is old, infirm & clearly no longer mentally competent to run a nation.

It is time now to start talking about him moving on👇

José's crew spent a week in August battling the Bear Gulch fire, then a 9,000-acre blaze + largest in 70+ years in WA’s Olympic Peninsula.

Border Patrol showed up to his remote forest location, surrounded the crew + ultimately arrested José + another immigrant firefighter.

Cruz-Estrada and his firefighter colleague were out there protecting his community and state. This is what Trump and Miller's goons said of them:

"While Hernandez was handcuffed, he heard a border patrol agent compare immigrants to a bunch of “stray cats” that required “animal control”, he wrote."
NEW: The US has deported a longtime Oregon firefighter who was arrested by Border Patrol while deployed at a major wildfire in Washington state.

José Bertin Cruz-Estrada, separated from his family, is speaking out from Mexico for the first time:

"Much of what we have learned and communicated validates the approach that won in 2025: fight not fold, focus on affordability, make a populist argument that names the villains, and respond to cultural attacks."
