This morning, I am moving slowly as I recover from the flu. It hit my whole family, and we were ill for about five days—a credit, I think, to our annual flu shots. My child is drawing dragons in the steam of the shower. I am sipping at a hot coffee. For a moment, life feels very vivid and good.

I further put forward that we be allowed to be a little bit rude about it. look what the obsession with civility has gotten us. if a person is being hateful or saying something untrue, you should be allowed to get a little bitchy if you need to!

Made a from-scratch gingerbread house at the request of the child—not bad for my first time! There are eight frolicking reindeer, but one fell off of the roof and broke his face, and so now is hiding behind a pine. Happy Christmas!
