Ok, let's do a proper #PortfolioDay post for today.
Hi! I am known as Anfor here. I am a graphic designer and 3D modeler, but I use this profile to talk about history and draw historical inspired animal drawings, draw my magpie antiquarian and just general bird antics!

#furry #furryart
An illustration, in the style of a romanesque stained glass window. On it, the figure of an anthro bird, possibly a magpie, look to a side, while holding a book, dignified as a saint. They are surrounded by latin text saying "Unus Pro Triste Duo Pro Gaudio" First four cards of the tarot's Major Arcana, inspired by the Tarot of Marseilles.

Number one is The Juggler or Magician (Le Bateleur), it shows an anthro hyena in front of a table with items related to the suits of the Minor Arcana (cups, coins and knives replacing swords). He is holding a wand, as a symbol of the fourth suit, the club. His hat can be though as a representation of the infinity symbol.

Number two represents The Popess or High Priestess (La Pances). She is an anthro barn owl, wearing a papal crown and dress in red and blue gowns. She is holding an open book.

The third card is The Empress (Le Imperatris). She is an anthro rabbit, wearing a royal crown and clothes, as well as an scepter and a shield displaying a heraldry rabbit.

The fourth and final card is The Emperor (Le Empereur). He is an anthro ram, imagery reinforced by the Aries symbol and the heraldry ram in a shield besides him. He is wearing royal clothes, as well as an scepter. His horns are golden yellow in representation of his crown. A group of sketches inspired by different famous cave paintings. It includes a Laxcaux Cave horse, an Altamira Cave bison; a bear, rhyno and lions from Chauvet Cave, and a red animal from the Cave of Swimmers. Drawing of an anthropomorphic magpie, sitting under a big tree, in the middle of a forest. The light shines through the treetops, highlighting tiny specks of dust in the air. A white butterly took interest in the magpie's index finger, and is about to land on it.

Very interesting piece of research. Surviving Palaeolithic art mostly uses red, ocher and black pigments, but recent findings might hint that they also used blue for less permanent forms of decoration, like body art or fabrics:

Did the early modern humans of Palaeolithic Europe wear blue? #TextileTuesday
Blue pigments are largely absent from cave and portable art, but may have been used for archaeologically invisible activities, such as body decoration or dyeing fabrics.

When i got back from FantasyForest i really wanted to draw this. As i ran around doing crew things i saw the skies filled with kites shaped as various mythical beasts, traderflags, faction banners, tips of polearms and flickers of light from...wherever and whoever!

Sometimes I think about how special is that there is a nice amount of furries who are interested in history and in what I ramble about.
Like, of course, mister lizard person, I appreciate your questions about babylonian clay tables! Or, look at that, several foxes want to know about medieval art!

This is just a random thought, but the rest of the world got so robbed when they got the NES, compared to Japan's Famicom.

Like look at the Famicom, it's so pretty!

Well, from what I've been able to find, it was mainly used by television networks and media companies for on-location field production.

I just learnt about the Panasonic AJ-LT85, a video editor for DVC Pro tapes produced in the late 90s. It looks like the type of machine that they would use to find Replicants in Blade Runner.

The coiled feline is one of the earliest motifs in Scythian art, hinting at the origins of the animal style that spread across the Eurasian Steppe

I would say that the Super Famicon's controller is prettier, but the Super NES has those nice purple details.
anforsorrow.bsky.social
Actually the opposite for me. As a litte kid I had a NES inherited from my cousins, and I though it was the coolest thing ever. Years later I learnt about the Famicon and I was like "Wow, that is way cooler"

A random though I had, but compared with Cyberpunk, Dieselpunk, etc...seems that Steampunk in general uses less of the "punk" aspect of it.
A lot of ornate metal, victorian gentlemen's club elements, but not that much commentary about the working class, or social inequality via technology.
anforsorrow.bsky.social
I believe it is possible to tell a story from the oppresed side of society within the steampunk genre tho. Specially when the time period it is inspired by has many examples of the working class fighting for better life conditions. Just add robots, steam powered machines and such.
