🚨 #GVerse Wow! Sen. Ruben Gallego becomes one of the first U.S. Senators to call for #FuckICE to be DISMANTLED.

“I think ICE needs to be totally torn down. People want immigration enforcement that goes after criminals…not the goon squad from Stephen Miller…”AMEN!

Okay... but shouldn't we be careful not to throw Rosemary's Baby out with the bath water?
This and Mamdani’s revocation of all EOs after Adams’s corrupt bargain are the template moving forward. No nibbling around the edges; total bulldozing.
Wow

The night before Spanberger’s inauguration

She’s cleared house at UVA

Top Youngkin appointees resign

Spanberger should be able to easily replace them given Dem trifecta

ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do.

There is no reform. There is only abolition and consequences for leadership.
With a hat tip to @mtsw.bsky.social for his posts about messaging and editing, I made this (very rough) example of what such an ad might look like.

“ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do” played over video of ICE engaging in acts of violence should be the wall to wall DNC media strategy right now
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

Hey @housedemocrats.bsky.social , where are the articles of impeachment? Do you need help writing them or something?
January 13, 2026 at 9:39 PM
Good advice for the day. Block them and report them.
If you haven't yet, make sure you block @icegov.bsky.social

Block ICE

Amazing
Video of federal agents getting run out of Lyn Lake this afternoon. Agents drop a gas can at the end and someone kicks it back at them.

Damn... knowing the response at the time really highlights how much worse America has gotten over the past 26 years.
This picture was taken in 2000 by an Associated Press photographer who was allowed to be present as an observer. ICE now keeps press blocks away from the areas where they are operating. One of the first actions ICE takes during a raid is to confiscate phones.

This is the original I misattributed. Still super metal.
At last night’s candlelight vigil for Renee Nicole Good, Bishop Rob Hirschfeld of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire announced he had asked the clergy of the diocese to get their affairs in order and to make sure they have their wills written ...,

Every once in a while Catholics show you just how metal they can be.
“I have asked the clergy of the diocese to make sure their affairs are in order and they have written their wills.,not the time for statements. It is time to put our bodies between the powers of this world and the most vulnerable”. Rob Hirschfeld, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire

Caltrops, the Magic card, are spiking in price because of the announced Increadible Hulk card.
Caltrops are cheap and easy to make.

ICE must be disbanded and have its leadership and members prosecuted.
Right after Renée Good’s disgusting murder, a ICE goon was filmed kicking her memorial candles.
Absolutely vile.

Exactly!

We would not ascribe traditional code agency separate from the company or its employees. If a company had backend systems that created harm, we'd say the company was harming people. (Although even the abstraction of "the company" doing it might already be an issue... individuals do things)
in general perhaps we (or at least the news) ought to say a company does things via it's ai rather than saying the ai does this or that. seems like the most direct way to clear off this sort of fog
I think the AI angle of this is obscurant. It doesn’t matter that grok is “an AI” whatever you take that to mean. Suppose X hired a team of guys to photoshop the clothes off of women and children whenever anyone asks. That’s functionally identical what happening here. It’s not complicated.
January 7, 2026 at 4:46 PM
For the purposes of video games, there might not be any training data necessary. Back when AI was cool there was a project called MarI/O that learned to play SNES games based on an abstraction of what is on the screen/the current game state.
And uh, just for reference, what are they training that on?
Sony has patented an AI gaming ghost that will play PlayStation games for you when you get stuck www.eurogamer.net/sony-has-pat...

Our daughter has banned us from saying "6-7" as a result of our behavior along these lines.
it is your DUTY as a parent to be basic and cringe. if your child says "6-7" and you do not say, loud enough for their friends to hear, "8-9?", causing profound silence and intense discomfort, you are neglecting your responsibilities. being cool is for kids. your days of being laughed WITH are over

We're going about "money in politics" all wrong. Instead of talking about corrupt politicians, we should be talking about how many spam phone calls and political ads there are.

We are exceedingly lucky that Walt Disney was never exposed to the brain eating worm that is social media.
Disney's view on the subject, especially late in his life, are quite idiosyncratic: a mix of progressive-even-for-today ideas, quasi-fascist authoritarian nostalgia and impractical world of tomorrow sci fi stuff that was never gonna work youtu.be/tKYEXjMlKKQ?... bsky.app/profile/elec...

When I worked at a B&N Cafe I had a guy who would come in on weekdays during his lunch and get either 6 or 8 shots (depending on how good a day he was having) in about 12-14ozs of steamed half & half because that's all that fit in the cup.

I just hope he's doing okay.

We can have a "diversity of views" on impeachment. Some might want to impeach him for the corrupt gifts from world leaders. Some might want to impeach him for the war crimes related to strikes against civilian boats. Some for cryptocurrency bribes and some just to right past wrongs.
This is the vice chair of the Democrat caucus straight up saying that even if Dems win the midterms, they might not impeach Trump.

Yup. People don't hate AI (even genAI), they hate capitalism.

People absolutely do hate Web3 though. That blockchain shit can suck a bag of dicks.
An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

Heh! Voice actors apparently have the polar opposite experience from math professors and it still sucks.
I am a voice actor. Upon telling someone this, some people will immediately take that opportunity to pivot to asking how they can also do it, usually with some flavour of "always having wanted to get into it" or "can you introduce me to the casting director on XYZ".

Please do not do this.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!
