So many studios came to the UK to try to get around the strikes and found essentially an unregulated goldmine of actors who want work, will work for buttons, and might not know that working those games was damaging a strike effort overseas.

To quote some advice I recieved regarding this when I have been approached to audition for problematic works:
If you don't want your name to be spoken in the same breath as the thing, you should pass on it. And if you take the money, you take with it the consequences of how that looks.

One thing with AI that I think is going to be a much more sinister issue going forwards is that currently a lot of what it makes is complete shit. But that will not always be the case, and I worry a lot of people won't mind then.
Even if the output is good, it should still be opposed.

Amazon is quietly walking back the AI English dubs, as if that fixes the fact that they had:
Changed IMDB to put dubbing outside the category of general acting.
Made AI dubs of non-English languages.
Opted for AI before ACTUALLY dubbing/streaming existing dubs for the shows they targeted.

I want to word this in a way that doesn’t diminish the incredible talent on display in Expedition 33, but I strongly believe that entrants for categories like this should nominate their entire cast, with one or two “keystone” actors to put front and centre, without eating half the nomination slots.

Because there are no residual payments on videogames, many actors rely on convention appearances as a replacement income.
Because cons = $, cons have begun expecting talent to make it through YOU (no appearance fee).

Now imagine any developer actively trying to use AI VO to save money wanting to offer something like that.
