Over 500 people showed up to my neighborhood meeting this morning. We love our city and we are fired up.

As one of our state reps said, “Because we’re winning, they’re coming twice as hard at us. They want us to be scared…but they don’t know us.”

Some more:

this is a helluva story by the local news outlet @minnesotareformer.com on the heroic ICE watch efforts in MN. Read the entire piece including how ICE is now not just crashing into, stalking, arresting and spraying chemicals agents at activists, ICE is also going to activists homes.
You need to understand the heroism of these everyday people in Minneapolis minnesotareformer.com/2026/01/13/i...

For today's horribles: the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on banning trans athletes. It's the most bigoted thing they'll do this term. I'll be jotting down my thoughts here.

THREAD. Every year, I tell the story of Ezell Gilbert. It's the story of one of the most remarkable cases in U.S. history, and you’ve probably never heard of it. The story of what the U.S. government did to him is vital for understanding the current moment we are in.

NY is having a bad flu season. More hospitalizations last week than any week on record.

Health authorities are encouraging everyone aged 6mo+ to get the flu vax (it's not too late).

Find a provider here: on.nyc.gov/getvaccinated. You can filter for sites where there's no cost for the uninsured.

THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...

Here's a draft I made! My 7 year old helped my with some suggestions of things she likes to do at the library. And I made a custom one for myself of things I want to do next year at the library.

A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

I mean we are absolutely in a place now where the only solution to this information disorder is for everyone to constantly evaluate the source of information. Never trust a chatbot, but also don't believe a video unless you know and trust where it comes from.

Unfortunately... that's a lot of work.

important thread about the decline (collapse?) of the internet.
Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.
