Barus begs Dr. Debora to come out of hiding and run for president in the midst of their struggle to overthrow Remoria's only ally.
She watched him turn inwards, crossing his arms and hanging his head, “No…I’m too old not to understand. This is the cost, who you are, what you’ve become. There is no change without pain, without losing part of yourself. A leaf falls and a new one takes its place, yet it’s the same tree, isn’t it?” Barus’s eyes could barely stay open, “You know they would have killed you regardless of what you did.” Warmed by how vulnerable he was, she wiped a tear from her eye, “I don’t know…I have to think about it.” Barus bowed, “We’re standing on the edge doctor, it pains me to put you through this. You remind me of my mother. All of us, Sean especially, he was orphaned as a boy.” Her brow tilted and cheeks reddened as he spoke, Barus approached her, sniffling as he held her head in his chest. “I never had children,” she whispered. “They’re standing right in front of you,” he said softly.

“We’re talking about the same Barus here right? The one that killed dozens of your guys?” “Yeah...that one. That whole scuffle with Dante and the boss? It was cause of Barus and his people, he said it himself, we didn’t even have to work that rat too hard.” “Huh, spare me the details.” “Whatever, we got a line on a number, but it’s been dead since yesterday. After we clean up on those tattooed freaks, the number one job’s to find him and his crew. I tell ya he’s got a fucking crack team the way he’s moving.” The sound of pages rustled in the recording, “You said a crack team, ever heard of Jackal?” The men sat up, Green opened a case of tobacco and began rolling a few. “Jackal? What’s that?” “Local mercenary company. Homicide found one of Nick’s guys with a rifle round that didn’t match the rest. A single shot through the window, right in the eye. Turns out this brand new company leased office space in the tower right across from the vault and on the exact same floor. It’s registered under the name of Marcel Avandes.” “Sounds like an out-of-towner.”

I look exactly like my grandfather, he died at 98, fought in WW2, had 14 wives and 86 children. I'm my father's last son. Grandfather became a local folk hero as one of the few survivors of the French Somali battalion. He became a traditional healer in his old age, I'm the only doctor in my family -

Ch. 20 - unnamed sequel WIP
Barus sat on the snowy rooftop, a rifle lay across his lap, a roll of tobacco nestled in his fingers. The skyline was grey, plumes of smoke from fires tapered into the air. Heavy machine guns sounded off in the distance. Cold tears fell on his hand, these deaths are on us, he thought. His breaths quivering, chilly winds, untouched as they traveled for thousands of miles found their way through his coat. The blood of his wounds thickened beneath sterile padding. His neck cracked with two slow movements. With a mournful drag, his eyes shut as he thought of Sophia. Mant was a dream at this point, so was peace. All of those nights in the hospital, forceps and scalpel in hand felt like nothing. The faces of those he saved were growing evermore distant. Every shot and rumble he heard forced an ache in his chest, a weight in his arms and a flash of pain through his eyes.

A secretive group fighting the Remorian government don white shirts as a symbol of change. It isn't a uniform per se, any white top will do.

Despite naming themselves the Saviors everyone identifies them as the white shirts.

As it was, smugness didn’t have quite the same affect without crossed arms. “So, if we hold him captive until Festivus Day, the contract is broken?” Boulder’s head ached from all the thinking. Or possibly lack of sleep. “Would that mean the wish would be taken back? No more of my Parsimony being queen? Everything back to normal?” “S’right.” The look of smugness grew, almost to the proportions of crossed-arm smugness, right until Clod noticed everyone staring into the pot at him and he rolled his eyes. “Oh, bugger.”

Writing Tip:
Every time you write something, you improve. It might be a little, it might be a lot. But there is always improvement. So keep writing. Even if it never sees the light of day, even if you think it sucks, it still helps you grow to be a better writer.

Through the smoke, Barus watched his brother’s arms tense up, “This…professor in Mant, once told me we can only find witnesses against the devil in hell.” Green scoffed silently, staring at his mug, the bandage weighed down and bloody. Barus observed Green’s exhausted frame, “Before we begin, how’s the eye?” “Whatever you gave me worked, I can see light…but nothing’s clear. I keep catchin’ bullets like this I might as well be a war lord,” Green said with a crooked smile. Barus tried to mirror the levity but ultimately failed. “I wish things were different,” Barus said, pulling a chip from his pocket, “I found this when we got in last night, hanging on the door, it’s a third of the money they promised. I don’t get these people.” Green picked up the folder and sniffled mucus and blood, “They can reach us and want us to know it. Where’s the journal you took?”

I think from all of my WIPs, I hope people take away the message that humanity persists even in the darkest circumstances, and that love & empathy are always stronger than fear & hatred.

Maybe kinda basic but I think those are the ideas that drive everything I write.

Locke's Interior minister pays very very well. You can win big in his casino's if you play your cards right. You'll sleep well knowing your business won't burn down so long as you pay for protection, on time. Long high is cheap and on the off-chance you irk him, your death might come quick.

About a boy who loved a girl in his class, the teacher noticed and poisoned her ( I assume Senna). Girl gets diarrhea and turns gaunt, boy loses attraction to her, teacher goes

But then I stop short. No less than a body’s length away, beside a tall hemlock, the lynx stands in full view. His pale-yellow eyes are unflinching as they lock with mine. Their color reminds me so much of honeysuckles, I can almost smell them. The muscles in his long legs are tensed. The lynx leaps. He leaps straight up, landing halfway up the hemlock’s trunk, and climbs up to the nearest limb, at least twenty feet up from the ground. But I know he isn’t trying to escape. He wants me to follow him. He climbs higher and pauses at the next limb. I walk to the tree and gaze up at him. I close my eyes. Behind my eyelids, I see the gleaming trail of the path we wove together. I see the radiant mass of wires in a feline shape with pricked ears, a ripple of color pulsing out from his chest in invitation. I jump. And suddenly I am scaling the tree, with feet that are not mine, with claws that I don’t have. The lynx bounds up the tree, a blue-gray cloud ascending above me, and I follow like I am also made of dust and water. Like I belong to its air, and it belongs to mine. And then the world is blue.

WIP : The Blood of Berenices - Ch. 4

Word of the day : Trail
At the steps, he pulled a roll and a lighter. The trail of smoke floated above his bloody hand, a ring of tooth-shaped wounds bled into his sleeve, his neck pulsed hard as the smoke raised his blood pressure and lightened his head. Pushing the entrance door, he stopped before a dark mass, the silk-like edges of a black cloak covered pointed boots, his blood froze when he raised his gaze. The most feared weapon in all of the known world was staring right at him. Standing at nine feet, the faceless bishop defied nature. Nothing went through Barus’s exhausted mind when he stared into glass eyes, the masked soldier leaned in, peering into his being. His eyes blurred the more he looked at the black crypts, the rigid steel mask was without expression, nor a voice. All he heard were rapid breaths, despite it being completely still, causing him to tremble. The slender giant floated aside, it’s gaze unbroken, silently granting him leave.
