Morning my friends it's day 12 & we're close to the final stop on our musical mystery tour.

Our word is inspired by a band who cheered us up with a cheeky reworking of Tom Hark in 1980, today's #vss365 #prompt 12/10/25 is #Piranha .

“Coordinates say the Jun’rah Sector,” Tana said.
“Nope,” Euphie said, spinning around. “Not a good idea.”
“What’s there?” Matthias asked.
“Besides junkers and scavs?” Euphie replied. “About 5,000 wrecked Expansion-Era freights, unstable fuel pods, and giant fcvking schools of #pirahna-bots.”

Old Teddy R, bold and keen,
Starved #piranhas —what a scene!
He tossed in a cow,
And with one mighty chow,
They cleaned every bone nice and clean!

"You've changed, Sherly" Mycroft said.
"Oh yeah?" Sherlock stretched, basking in what felt like the closest thing to a compliment he could expect. "I'd hope so. I've been practicing sparring with William almost every day."
"Not what I meant." Mycroft said, his voice sounding odd.
Sherlock had just enough time to realize something was wrong before he found himself with a very real knife at his throat. He held up his hands in surrender. Over the years he'd been subject to all manner of Mycroft's surprise attacks, enough to recognize when he meant business. "Mycroft..." he said slowly. "It's me."
"But who are 'you' exactly?" Mycroft asked. “Your resemblance is so convincing that I thought at first this was some sudden leap in maturity on your part, but now I'm certain—you aren't my brother any more than your fiancé is who he claims to be."
Sherlock sucked in a breath. He had anticipated that Mycroft might be suspicious of him, but he hadn't expected it would extend to William as well.

Love devours
in silence,
each touch a
sharp-toothed
hunger,
delicate
as breath,
ruthless as a
piranha’s bite.
It strips away
my defenses,
leaving only
the raw truth
beneath
the surface.
I would let you
consume me,
again and again.

"Yes, I do."

Piranha

We understand you humans look down on us Piranha, but you don't understand (as with so many things) that we are just keeping our waters clean, free of your nasty land-meat, along with the stench of your oils.

Look, it's simple: if you dont want to be eaten, stay out of our home.

The crowd of zombies was like a mass of giant #piranhas. It flowed through the city, stripping screaming civilians to the bone.

The CEO stopped the video. "They're guaranteed to rot in seven days, and then civilian property can be... repurposed."

The Senator nodded. "Cut them a check."

“Ehh, look, Drac, it’s nice of you to trust me in this. But I don’t want you getting your hopes up.”

“What? Why not?”

“Well, for one thing, it has been years since I last spoke Arabic, and my accent just isn’t what it used to be, ya know.”

(Aside) “Ha! Say that again.”

Fate grunted and gestured to a shelf near the door. “I made sure she's going to be everything you aren't.”

“Oh! Fate, you spoiled me! Will her life be full of unnecessary tragedy and strife? I do hope so.” Knowledge pulled the glowing book from the shelf.

Today’s #WIPsnips word is #hope. I’ve used this word before, but I went with a different example. Cainen goes home for winter break.

#wip #writing #queer #trans #ya #horror #fiction #mentalillness #family
White text on a black background.

So she is sorry.
It doesn't matter. Even if she wasn't sorry, it
wouldn't matter. What's done is done. She can't un-have the conversation with Marsheen, she can't un-send me to Forest Step, she can't un-kill my parents.
I can't do any of those things, either. That's just how life works. Sometimes we fuck up and we can't fix it.
I grip Red's hand tighter. If she's like this the whole two weeks I'm at home, this is going to be harder than I thought. Her guilt hurts more than her anger.
"I love you, Cainen," Aunt Tracy says. "I
hope you know that."
"I love you, too," I say. "And I do know." She pulls into the driveway. We're back. Not :
home, exactly, but one step closer to it. A second Christmas without my mom and dad. Maybe it'll be easier this year.
Probably not.

Lifted a veil to a soul that deserved my attention. Curious to know why the heat keeps feeling so cozy. Why it draws me in, roped with thick nostalgia. A lust sparked that always lingered at the cusp. Strangled by inches, feet, miles and miles. Hiding behind desires to abandon what I keep in a safe. Just pack it up and gift it away. A giving I hoped put us in a vacuum of finally fulfilled. Unleashed and unreal. Because it lets us feel. Until the layers of limitations became louder than my logic causing chaos in the symphony. Trying to tune until too much tension broke something in me. Stop. Now I hear. The character of the hidden screaming to keep my attention. The hidden surge with anger when I see what the veil hides. The truth, with a bigger and stronger grip around my throat, squeezes until I feel an overwhelm in my eyes. Note to self: The Sun is hot.

An hour until the sun went down, I started to shut down the office for the day. It had been nothing but petty complaints and requests to hurt people I’d never met, and I was more than ready to go home. As I closed the blinds—head in the clouds, wondering what kind of cuisine Galene would force on me tonight—the buzzer told me there was a visitor in my waiting room. Throwing the connecting door open, I was confronted by a girl in a bright blue dress who couldn’t have been older than eleven. I blinked a few times as she smiled up at me.
“Good evening, I hope I haven’t caught you at too inconvenient of an hour,” she said with the controlled tone of a librarian. I shook my head and held the door for her to walk into my office. “Thank you,” she said as she nodded her head politely and walked past me into the room. She allowed me to pull out her chair and she sat in it with one knee crossed over the other.
I sat and tried not to feel foolish having a consultation with a child. “What can I do for you, miss…?”
“Aeschylus.” I must have made a face, because then she explained, “The priests who look after me thought it was a funny name for a somber little girl. I quite like the way it sounds, though.”
I nodded. “It’s lovely. What brings you to my office, Miss Aeschylus?” Book cover for Keeping The Peace by Tris Husband. A glass with a drink in it sits on a black marble countertop with ice scattered on it. Inside the glass is an amber liquid, ice and a twister lemon peel.
