It is possible to cherish the BBC as an institution while also saying that BBC News is failing very badly, day after day, in its duty to inform and that it always fails in a right-wing direction. It desperately needs to recover its integrity

Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell.

Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass.

That, right there, is the problem.

"Is Britain about to blow?" asks Matt Goodwin promoted a two hour special event on the subject.

Their greasy desperation for violence and carnage, so they can profit off it, is so disgusting.

The cheek of it! You can't lecture people on their lack of a work ethic until your party finally remembers what ethics are...

The shadow home secretary says the UK is in a global race and everyone needs to make a contribution.

The Conservatives approved its use for four years in a row.

Slowly but surely over time, without it ever having been planned that way, 'Tinsel and Lights' by @traceythorn.bsky.social has become the album I listen to when peeling parsnips and making bread sauce. It's perfect for our Christmas, and the singing is sublime.

We're nearly at the first full calendar year-end of the Gaza war. The normalisation of both (i) the enormous bloodshed (ii) and journalists still not being allowed in by the Israeli govt to report as to what's happening have been some of the grimmer features of the year.
