The idea that Ireland's "vulnerability" is a major headache for EU/NATO strategic planners is simply not factually accurate. I spend a lot of time reading the work of, speaking to, and listening at conferences to these people, and I have literally never heard this mentioned! It's not on their minds!

This is outrageously propagandistic
When it comes to modern war, Ireland is a high-value target: its waters on the western fringe of Europe contain three-quarters of all undersea cables in the northern hemisphere. Despite this, is unprotected and unprepared.

An #FTEdit 🧵 on why this determinedly neutral nation is Europe's weak link 👇

The LUAS Red Line was thrown into chaos at rush hour this evening due to an incident at St James's. In order to find out what was going on with the service, the LUAS expected thousands of affected passengers to check their X account. It's ridiculous, enraging, and at this stage totally unacceptable
I posted on X for the first time In ages. Immediately deleted the post. Holy Christ. It’s bad bad. Like sticking your head in a wasps nest

Wondering how I did it?

I boiled water and added two tablespoons of vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice.

I soaked it for 20 minutes, and after that, it looked the same, so I bought a brand new one.

I actually gasped when I saw that this resource guide was put out there to help folks. *That's* what I'm talking about.

Librarians are the freaking best, y'all. Book it. Done.
Sometimes I think it’s going to be the librarians who will save us all.

I think we need to consider why people are turning to Chat GPT for solace instead of to other humans

I wonder if some people are feeling so alone because they are, in fact, NOT being seen or heard by other humans to anything like the degree they need to be

I think we need to start there

It has to be named after Maureen Sweeney, the Irish meteorologist who gave the Allies a critical weather report before D Day.

Irish aviation history and meteorological history are intimately linked, and we're a Republic - we don't name things after Taoisigh here (except in Cork).

I suggest….*wait for it*….a woman!

At this stage any woman tbh.
The Dáil has heard a suggestion that Dublin Airport be named after the former Taoiseach Sean Lemass.

Any counteroffers?

Just thinking that I’ve only ever heard projective identification spoken about in one direction.

Client - Therapist.

Never the other way.

Which, even if you accept its existence, does suggest the concept is being used defensively.

Why don’t we just go all the way and rename Dublin Castle ‘VHI Towers’ or the Book of Kells and the Long Room the ‘Allianz Archive’.

If you understand heavy stuff first, squishables last, you are my people.
My partner & I are a team when we go food shopping. She takes care of trivial things like whether the items I'm picking up are in-date and actually within our budget.
Whereas I focus on the important part, ensuring that all goods are arranged on the till belt in optimum order for efficient packing.

Noticing how anyone who lives outside the white cis het dominant narrative is automatically an ‘activist’ now.

Merely existing is activism apparently.

It’s hard to explain what it means to be able to show a trans kid this and for them to feel seen & valued by their president

As a fairly-femme middle-aged cis-woman I get read as a teenage boy about once a week.

While the harm to me is minimal* and barely an inconvenience compared to what trans people face, it is still scary looking at countries arguing for more policing of gender.

*mostly it annoys my wife.

Donations are split equally between NSPCA, Children’s Books Ireland, and My Lovely Horse Rescue.

Please help them out if you can!
We are €500 short of €5,000 on the Xmas Appeal.

Anyone fancy taking us over the first major hurdle?

It’s been an emotional weekend for reasons I may (or may not) explain another time.

But I’m far more peaceful than I would have expected to be given what I’m processing.

Sometimes another’s very painful actions can offer an opportunity for greater clarity, and occasionally my heart accepts it.
