The idea that we're drawing our resolve from each other, that we are willing to put ourselves in harm's way to protect our neighbors, even ones we do not know, it's unthinkable to them.

They don't understand that real strength doesn't come from HURTING PEOPLE but from PROTECTING THEM.

To my fellow Canadians, there was a time when Americans believed that what is happening in the US could never happen in the US. And here we are.

Please stop saying, "I'm so glad to be Canadian, this could never happen here."

Yes, it could. And it will if we become too comfortably complacent.

Global EV demand is soaring, and Canada isn’t keeping up.

We risk losing jobs and investment unless we align our auto sector to where the market is going.

Lots going on right now, but this is worth repeating: the planet will keep heating up and the climate will keep breaking down until we phase out fossil fuels.

We should all want to phase out fossil fuels as soon as possible, I think!
2025 global climate highlights are out:
🌡️ 2025 was 3rd warmest year on record, 1.47ºC above the preindustrial level
📈 2023-2025 is the first three year period above 1.5ºC (according to ERA5)
🌍 The last 11 years have been the warmest 11 years on record

Great work by @ecologyottawa.bsky.social putting together this straightforward summary of the city's Climate Change and Public Health in Ottawa report. I learned stuff, some of it alarming. Climate change is harming us, here and now, where we live. Stop burning fossil fuels!

#Ottawa
In December, @ottawapublichealth.ca released a report assessing the health vulnerability status of #Ottawa communities and addressing health impacts in key areas related to climate change.

One of our Council Watchers prepared this summary. Ask your councillor how they’re taking climate action!

It’s time to abandon the ‘bridge fuel’ fantasy
The problem is fossil gas, which is mostly composed of methane, is a gas, which means it leaks constantly: at wells, in pipelines and from gas cookstoves in people’s homes.
