Two key figures in Greater Manchester have resigned this week following @manchestermill.bsky.social investigations: The chair of the Uni of GM and the CEO of Rochdale Council. This is the kind of accountability local areas need and that they lose when papers stop taking risks and turn to clickbait.

WM Police chief Craig Guildford has apologised for identifying a fictitious West Ham v Maccabi Tel Aviv match in a police report. He’s written to the home affairs committee and blames Microsoft CoPilot for the error

The death of “Operation Raise the Colours” activist and “ex-football hooligan” Paul Lumber in Bristol, falling to his death fixing a St George’s flag to a lamp post, received much coverage.

Some of this painted him simply as a patriotic family man.

The truth is rather different.

Debate about London is obscured by the false binaries both sides put on it. Best on it is @jburnmurdoch.ft.com who shows it is both case violent crime down (an undisputed good) & crimes of disorder (shop lifting, snatching) up which affects/is visible to more but far less devastating consequences

It's incredible how much time MPs spend these days generating social media posts that are a) empty of political content, and b) not reaching any of their constituents
Vital communication with voters here.
Democracy would die without his 5 likes from staffers.

It's worth being on the nonce nazi site for this critical reach.

Really sorry to see this. Mike is one of the good guys and Haringey will be worse without him. I hope this doesn’t signal a shift in transport policy.
After nearly eight years as an elected ward councillor for both St Ann’s and Hermitage and Gardens wards, and four years as Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Climate Emergency at Haringey Council, I've decided to step down from elected office.

As much as I believe it essential for Europe to disentangle itself from the US for our future security, the reality is far more exposing and costly than many will admit - and why European govts will continue to hold out for as long as possible (even if that means the unthinkable i.e. Greenland)
"The report concluded that it remained unclear whether or not US intelligence would be able to access the data, despite Palantir’s official reassurances otherwise. The 🇨🇭army also found other issues, in terms of its cost & the fact that it might require Palantir specialists to be permanently onsite"

If there is an argument then this is the argument. But lol I can’t find where this obviously false stat is coming from. And if the government does believe more than half the families in the UK are using it as their primary news source then woah maybe time to up the scrutiny of it!

Under the Treason Felony Act 1848, it is a crime punishable by life imprisonment to intimidate parliament or encourage any foreign power to invade the U.K.

We should be applying this law to every traitor openly calling for the U.S to depose our democratically elected government.

- the US wants to keep the current regime minus Maduro, preferably as a proxy, puppet state.
- Trump's disparaging comments about Machado show the admin could care less about installing the legitimate govt ahead of its own political/economic interests.

I am a big Sánchez fan and have been for a long time. I like his politics and greatly admire his leadership skills. But it is a simple fact that if Spanish policy on defence and Ukraine had been mirrored in the rest of Europe, Putin would have won a long time ago.
Pedro Sánchez can say in public what every other European leader believes in private because there is absolutely no downside for Spain in doing so and for him, domestically, potentially a fair bit of upside.

Venezuela should de-escalate by trading land for peace, pledge neutrality and now choose a leader Donald approves of.

That's how it was supposed to work when we do this to our neighbors.
The US has launched an unprovoked and illegal attack on Venezuela.

This is a brazen attempt to secure control over Venezuelan natural resources.

It is an act of war that puts the lives of millions of people at risk, and should be condemned by anyone who believes in sovereignty & international law.
