I know this won't happen, but every editor who has directly handled Olivia Nuzzi and Ryan Lizza should be blackballed from respectable news outlets
"So stick with me here. We haven’t reached the halfway point, and I haven’t yet described the most bizarre, consequential, and newsworthy events."

Happy Thanksgiving, I guess

It's why I filled that in survey and spoke to Ossoff's people. They've lost their minds. Everywhere 50 miles from the capital is trying to push to $2000/mo and even the hood is now asking $1400/mo. Nobody is paying attention to how predatory things are in ATL.

Rent across the board is high and continuing to rise - commercial rent is bonkers. I just left a situation where it was 1370 a month for 330ish square feet, no in-building bathroom. Rent for a storefront with foot traffic and good placement? Oh, buddy.
I'm often asked why my book about the dramatic rise of the "working homeless" is based in Atlanta.

The answer? Because Atlanta is a stand-in for any number of other cities where workers earn nowhere near what it costs to stay housed, and people are forced into homelessness despite working nonstop.
Atlanta retail workers earn less than half of what they need to make rent
The wage gap between rent and earnings in metro Atlanta is on par with the national level.

I am bad at math, but if 24 people sign up for a $5/month membership between now and 12/2, @thexylom.com will receive nearly $2,500 in matching funds and bonuses!

This is literally the best time to support independent, culturally competent reporting on topics banned by the Trump administration!
Thanks to the generosity of 61 and counting of you, we are now halfway past our year-end fundraising target!

Our #GivingNewsDay goal is to gain 25 new members by 12/2. This will help us unlock $1,000 from the Knight Foundation!

Give now and have your new monthly donation matched 12x by NewsMatch:

I've said it multiple times on this app and I'll say it again - I cobble income together from several jobs (teaching, editing, writing) and I have a supportive husband who has insurance. We are not hand to mouth. Writing has been a loss, income-wise. I made more teaching 20 hours of piano a week.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

In Morrow County, healthy adults were coming down with unexplained medical conditions, including diseases that usually afflicted the elderly.

In a survey of 30 homes, at least 25 miscarriages and a half dozen people living with one kidney were reported.

Incidentally, theft like this is why there won’t be a second Steelflower trilogy, why the Bannon & Clare series was canceled by the publisher, and why I will never do another collected SquirrelTerror book.
I did a thread a few weeks ago of "authors link your stuff" & one of my author friends who is one emergency away from being homeless had a massive spike in downloads on Anna's Archive from people *who follow me* complaining about how they are poor & should be allowed to steal from other poor people

Many thanks to @jhameia.bsky.social and @viengsamai.bsky.social for the rescues, lol.
By the way, it's National Editor Appreciation Day.

Nobody ever reads a great article and thinks, "Dang, that was some tight editing." But editing is a big part of how it got to be great.

So writers, if you've ever worked with a good editor, shout 'em out.

They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.

More updates TK.
