It’s a shame some people can’t see that these YouTubers are just hating for the sake of hating. Some even make videos targeting fans who enjoy these projects just to be mean-spirited. #StarWars

The Acolyte is more in conversation with the OT/ PT than anything else published since the merger, and it does so by challenging and expanding on the core moral ideas of the universe and the original critiques of the Jedi in a way that nothing else has besides the High Republic novels.

A new hope is about how the government neglects regions and rejoins them when it benefits them, ultimately leading to poverty, cartel violence, and a heightened surveillance police state.

And planetary warfare.

The nonviolent moment was *not* peaceful.

The point was to draw out state violence, and be willing to face batons, water cannons, jail, and worse.

And Martin Luther King still got shot in the head— other civil rights leaders assassinated.

And now, civil rights progress is being rolled back.
retaliating tooth-tooth when bigots bring violence feels good in the moment

strategic non-violent civil disobedience wins in long term👇🏼

certainly do what you need to do in an individual encounter

I’m talking more about how to win in long term & end this madness

One central lesson of 1960s civil rights protests is that activists can “dramatize injustice” through strategic “narrative construction,” essentially creating compelling stories in the media with clear heroes and villains. More in this thread: bsky.app/profile/owas...

Huge news today, if you missed it; Chris Duncan was released from Louisiana prison after being wrongfully convicted for nearly three decades.

@psfrench.bsky.social wrote this devastating but important read this spring on Louisiana’s rush to kill Jim despite junk science.

Chris Duncan’s death sentence—built on the testimony of two discredited doctors—illustrates just how faulty the system can be.
