Saw a video from one of my favorite Star Wars creators and someone commented, “You like everything.” It reminded me of the reactions I sometimes get. I mostly talk about what I love about Star Wars. Criticism is valid but you can criticize something without being rude about it. #StarWars

Why is she labeled a "Mary Sue" for this but Luke isn't a "Gary Stu"?
Their stories are very similar, & they're each naturally strong in the Force, but only Rey is criticized for it, even though she isn't as perfect. I love them BOTH, but only one faces extreme critique.

I love Luke's story obviously, but I will never get why some fans are OK with him simply stating that he has flown before as enough justification for being good enough to fly at Yavin, but Rey's words aren't enough to justify 𝙝𝙚𝙧 flying (and she still struggles, unlike Luke).

I think there’s a mix-up here, or it was written intentionally, because all I’m seeing is people pointing out that if Rey is a “Mary Sue,” then so are Luke and Anakin. At some point, we have to acknowledge that the term has started functioning like a dog whistle. #StarWars
