Finally got around to buying this, Pat's first book pushed me through my first 50 consecutive ranked losses in SFV and look at me now, ten years later - I've lost, like, way more than that

Finally got around to buying this, Pat's first book pushed me through my first 50 consecutive ranked losses in SFV and look at me now, ten years later - I've lost, like, way more than that
I had a friend who would rant every couple weeks that “you play as a scientist? Like a lab coat guy? That’s fucking stupid”
were there any half life haters at the time in pc gaming? like it opens with a fifteen minute unskippable cutscene before you get to do anything. there had to be action game purists who saw the future and were screaming on deaf ears

I think it’s generally fine if a senselessly evil approach is allowed but not very well supported, since most players won’t act in that way but knowing that they COULD lends more satisfaction to “good” choices
Hive mind.. whats the general thoughts on allowing players to brick their games by letting them kill NPCs? Are folk ok with that? any smart examples where it is recoverable?

that's called a stable mythic+ group
when i'm playing magic the gathering alone on my personal computer, i will say "of course" or "come the fuck on" if my opponent draws the exact bullshit they need. that's it though, that's the only time i talk to myself
i think a good lesson for game devs would be to remember that people don't really talk to themselves. when they do, it's "ah fuck" or "really?" and, again, it's rare. i lived alone for many years and i am happy to consult on this. i DO talk to my cat, of course. you could put a cat in.
